BeeHome Homes of American Fork South What do you do after you retire? How about going back into the work force? After being a hospital administrator for 27 years, Craig and his wife, Karol, moved back to Utah County and purchased an assisted living facility in American Fork. What a way to retire! Many of the skills in running a hospital can be put to work in running an assisted living facility and that is what they did. Can you believe that? They wanted to create an environment that showed warmth and care to the residents that live in the facility so they have worked on hiring associates that have the same philosophy of care and love for the elderly. This sounds good to me. "This is one of the hallmarks of our business is the care we give the residents," Karol said. They also feel these residents don't have a lot to look forward to when they have 80 years behind them. So home cooked meals that are delicious and nutritious can be one thing that the residents can look forward to. Wouldn't we all like to have quality meals to look forward to eating? Another thing that they can look forward to is the activities provided. The residents were treated to the tulip festival at Thanksgiving Point, a family Easter egg hunt and lunch with their families, and many more. "We enjoy working with the elderly and have a great time with them." explained Craig. With the addition of a new level II facility, Craig and Karol brought their Son, Drew, to assist them with the work load. He is doing very well.

Helpful Car Tips True or False:

In order to keep my warranty valid, I can only have my vehicle serviced by a dealership.

It is not necessary that you take your vehicle to the dealership for servicing to keep the warranty valid. You are able to choose any vehicle repair shop that you would like to as long as you are getting the proper service done. The answer is false.

Did You Know?

Preventive maintenance can save you from unnecessary fuel costs.

*If the tires are just eight PSI underinflated, the rolling resistance can run you several dollars a month. *A stuck thermostat reduces engine efficiency by another 7%. *Wheels that are just one-quarter inch out of alignment will waste fuel as well. A little preventive maintenance not only saves you money in the long run, but it helps extend vehicle life and increase vehicle safety.

2011 Toyota Sienna As my wife and I find ourselves spending more and more time with our three grandkids, the test drive of the Sienna mini van reminded us of why we drove a mini van when our children were small - lots of open space and easy to get in and out of are the first two reasons that came to mind. It had been a while since we owned a mini van. We found there have been several major upgrades - for starters, today’s vans have sliding doors on BOTH sides of the vehicle along with windows that go up and down rather than the old stationary windows in the sliding door. We were able to take the totally redesigned 2011 Toyota Sienna on a two-hour soccer trip with our 14 year old son and 4 teamates. Once they got past the fact that it was a mini van, they loved the wide screen entertainment system with two wireless headphones, giving them the ability to play x-box as well as their mp3’s. They also appreciated the pull up window shades that kept the glare out and off of the screen. My wife and I found the navigation system to be very user friendly and extremely accurate, even going so far as to warn us of slow traffic and congestion 20 miles away down our route. The Sienna made a four hour round trip with five teenage boys and two adults seem significantly shorter than it was. The Sienna has posted some of the highest marks of any mini van in crash test scores for the last 13 years. It also has an excellent reputation for long term dependability and quality - making it a great option for day-to-day driving as well as a long road trip. The Sienna we drove was the LTD model with 3.5 liter engine, all wheel drive with seating for seven including leather seats

throughout with heated front seats. The AWD and the 22 mpg highway were two more things that impressed my wife along with the very practical center console that includes a sliding drink holder for the rear seats. She loves the extra confidence of AWD in Utah winters. As for me - because of the smooth, quiet ride and upscale interior along with plenty of power and tight handling on corners - I found myself forgetting that I was driving a mini van. It felt much more like a luxury sedan. A few other features that enhanced our test drive were the voice-activated touch-screen DVD navigation system, smart key system with push button start and tri-zone climate control with individual temperature settings You will want to take a test drive and you just might fall in love with the mini van again (times 10)!

For more than 10 years Home Helpers has been adding quality of life to members of our communities from I-80 on the North to Spanish Fork on the South. They are insured by Workers Compensation and unemployment to ensure you and your loved ones are fully protected. Within the last four monhths, Michael and Alicia McDonald purchased the area’s franchise from Bill Ellis (now retired). Mike & Alicia are committed to continue to hire only the bst empolyees to provide a helping hand to those in need in our neighborhoods. As everyday life becomes more challenging, a little help can go a long way. Home Helpers’ list of services can be broken down into three categories: 1) Conversation & Companionship 2) Activities for the mind & body 3) Day to Day living. They can tailor a plan to fit your needs and budget; from just a few hours a day, one or two days a week, to all 7 days per week. Home Helpers provides more services than we have room to list but here are just a few that really caught my eye: preparing meals, planting flowers, clip coupons, help organize bills, water plants & iron clothes. Home Helpers makes life easier!

Incapacitated person: An individual who is impaired by reason of mental illness, mental deficiency, physical illness or disability, chronic use of drugs, chronic intoxication, or other cause such that personal decision making is impossible. Living Will: A document stating that an individual does not wish their life to be artificially prolonged by extraordinary measures when there is no reasonable expectation of recovery from extreme physical or mental disability.
