McLean Blvd. • 316-529-9940 Watson Park offers a variety of fun opportunities for the whole family such as an 18-hole miniature golf course, sand volleyball courts, pony rides, and pedal boats. Also climb aboard for a fun train ride around the park and enjoy the beautiful scenery. If you like to fish, Watson Park has you covered! Lakes are fully stocked with a variety of fish and you can purchase bait and tackle at the concession stand. Kansas fishing license is required.

Competitive and recreational leagues will be offered each available night of play. Season will consist of 12 games. Tuesday – Friday games play 6:30 – 9:30pm. Saturday games play 5 – 8 PM. Kids

Konnection Kids Konnection provides the working parent a safe and affordable option for in-service days that kids will enjoy. Each day will be filled with a variety of activities including sports, games, contests, arts & crafts, and special events. Campers should bring their own lunch and drink daily, but a morning and afternoon snack is provided. Kids Konnection will be held from 7a–6p. The daily fee is $18 per child and the SRS Vision Card is accepted at all locations. This camp, licensed by the KDHE, is open to children ages 6–13. Please notify the Wichita Park & Recreation if you need special accommodations to participate in our programs.

All activities are related directly to the theme and will engage your child with physical and intellectual challenges, crafts and interactive games. Calling all Oompah Loompahs and anyone else who loves making and eating sweets! This day will focus on making mouth watering treats like chocolate pops, cookies that taste like Reeses, chocolate covered cherries and more! We’ll take time to play some fun Wonka games, too!

Winter Nature Crafts

Pull your sleeves up and get ready to turn sticks into wonderful works of art. Show your creative side by painting brightly colored twig letters to personalize your bedroom or living space. Make a Gourd Birdhouse

This class is for the birds…literally! Each child will make a bird house designed for the Wren, which is a common small backyard bird in Wichita. Kids will have fun drilling holes, cleaning out the inside, and sanding the outside of an apple gourd. Hang the birdhouse from a tree in your yard and together you’ll enjoy watching the birds nest, hatch and learn to fly. Two children may register per adult. Fee is per child, free for the adult. Instructed by staff from the Great Plains Nature Center. Ages 6–12.

May is Bicycle Safety Month so get street smart! This clinic includes a safety inspection of each participant’s bicycle along with a short safety lecture about the rules of the road and training on a miniature chalk street course. Then put those skills to the test on a supervised ride along the Linwood bike trail. Bring your own bikes and helmets along to this great family activity. Helmets are mandatory. Meet at softball parking lot immediately north of recreation center. Offered by the Bike Cave and Wichita Bike/ Walk Alliance. Ages 6 to adult.

SNAG Golf

Starting New at Golf (SNAG) contains all the basic elements of golf, but in a modified form featuring its own simplified rules and terminology. Offered by the Wichita Rowing Association Students will be required to wear a personal flotation device unless providing proof of passing a basic swim test. Go to wichita.gov and download the swim test form from the Wichita Park & Recreation homepage. Ages 14+.

Introduction to Rowing

Now’s your chance to learn about rowing! Experienced members of the Association will introduce you to the types of boats, rowing terminology and the correct rowing style. Hit the water and learn to row in a sculling boat over five classes! Class starts with an introduction to rowing, terminology and boat identification. Self-Defense Workshop

City of Wichita Golf League

Registration Begins: January 7th Registration Ends: Friday, April 5th League Starts: Sunday, April 14th Tee Times: 3 – 4 PM Time Range Price: $180 per team / $40 for weekend pass holders (must provide pass number) Locations: MacDonald, LW Clapp, Tex Consolver, Auburn Hills, & Sim Description: Teams will consist of two players. Each Sunday your team will face off against an opposing twosome for nine holes of play. The teams lowest score on each hole will be added to determine the teams overall score. Teams will be handicapped and put into flights after the second week of play. The league will take place over eight Sundays (excluding holidays). All fees will be paid in advance to eliminate forfeits. You will NOT have to pay a green fee each week; this cost is included in your registration fee.

Get a great workout while playing in the sand! Register as a team for this 6-on-6 self-officiated league. Intermediate teams should have proficient skills. • Class transfers are subject to space availability. • If a class is cancelled an effort will be made to schedule a make-up session. • Participants may withdraw from a class without penalty if a request received 2 days prior to first class.

Refund Policy • Full refunds will be issued if the cancellation is made by Wichita Park & Recreation staff. • No refunds for classes missed by a student. • Partial refunds will be granted for cancellations: • Allow 2-3 weeks to receive refund. • 80% refund after the first class • 50% refund after the second class • No refund after the third class
