On the 75 th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima (Aug. 6, 1945), we present a quote from “the father of the atom bomb,” theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who served as the wartime head of the Los Alamos Laboratory, where the bomb was developed.

“If atomic bombs are to be added as new weapons to the arsenals of a warring world, or to the arsenals of nations preparing for war, then the time will come when mankind will curse the names of Los Alamos and of Hiroshima.”
