The DSSO’s Heaven & Earth concert took place on May 7, 2016, with Respighi’s Church Windows and Orff’s Carmina Burana.
Heaven and Earth meet in this combination of 20th century masterworks: Respighi was inspired by four different church windows, and the stories they tell, when writing his colorful work Vetrate di Chiesa. Then experience one of the most beloved choral pieces of all time: Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, describing the serenity of heaven, the earthly delights and suffering of men, as well as the futility of fate.
A Kid’s Play About Racism free to stream
In collaboration with 41 regional and children’s theaters across the United States, the Duluth Playhouse is excited and honored to share a groundbreaking online performance for children and families across our community, A Kid’s Play About Racism.
This all-new work explains what racism is, how to know it when you see and experience it, and ideas for what you can do about it.
This brand-new theatrical piece will be available for streaming all day on both August 1 and 2. And, it can be viewed for free on Broadway On Demand (broadwayondemand.unreel. me).
Even with the word “kid’s” in the title, this is a piece we all can learn and benefit from.
Adapted from the book by Jelani Memory and directed by awardwinning director and Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) artist Khalia Davis, A Kid’s Play About Racism will be brought to life by an entirely Black and BIPOC cast and creative team from across the United States.
The Playhouse team is thrilled for this opportunity to bring this world premiere, online theatrical experience to our community and to support the hard work of our colleagues.
