NewHomes, SameFaces In an efforttoconsolidate, bettersynergize, and maximizeofficeusageacross both campuses, over 40+ individual moves haveoccurred recentlyand resulted in thefollowing majorre-locationsforsomeofourprogramsand teams. The majorityofthemovesincluded thefollowing departments:

Two Campuses, One Email

To better streamline facility-related matters across both campuses, RBS-Facilities@business.rutgers.edu waslaunched on January14th toreplacethevariousroom reservation and repair-reporting emails. All inquiriesrelated toroom requests, officeassignments, and general building repairscan bedirected tothisnewemail account.

AGrandeOpening

On February3rd, RBSalong with RutgersGourmetDining officially welcomed theopening of Starbucks to 1 Washington Park. Starbucks-1 Washington Parkisthelargestofitskind in thecountry, and thesecond Starbuckslocation on theNewarkCampus. Thespace featuresbleacherstyleseating, variousindependentnooks, and casual group seating forstudents, faculty, and stafftostudyand collaborate.

Streamlined Support In an efforttostreamlineHuman ResourceprocessesatRBS, RBS-HR@business.rutgers.edu waslaunched lastFall. Grievances, disciplinaryactions, leaves, riskmanagement, crisismanagement, litigation, and confidential information can bedirected toDeeWhite. All otherissues, can besend totheemail above.

A Journey of a Lifetime

On Thursday, December5th, stafffrom both theNewBrunswickand Newarkcampusesjoined together foramoving Professional Development Workshop called A Journey of a Lifetime: Techniques for Researching Your Ancestors. Workshopfacilitator, Robin Semple(AssistantViceChancellorforDevelopmentforStrategicInitiativesatRutgers-Newark), provided knowledgeableadviceand offered somehelpful tipsforexploring yourfamily’sheritage. RBSemployee Nelson Figueras, BusinessSpecialist, shared the powerful, personal storyofhischildhood escapefrom Cubain the1960’sand hisrecentsearch forlong-lost relatives, historical information, and thetruth abouthisfather’srolein thatcountry’sturbulentrevolutions. Both Robin and Nelson havefound thegenealogyjourneychallenging, emotional and rewarding.

A new creative program wasintroduced lastmonth byCan Uslay, ViceDean, AcademicProgramsand Innovations. Each month, RBSfacultyand staffwill bechallenged tosubmitinnovativeideasaddressing a specifictopicofinterestorconcern totheentireRBSlearning community. TheDecember2019Innovation Challengewas“Fun atRBS,” and theJanuaryfocuswason “Improving theStudentExperience.” Wehave all pondered mattershereatRBSand casuallyproposed ourideastofriendsand coworkers. TheRBSInnovativeChallengeisan exciting chancetoreallyhaveyourvoicesheard and ameaningful wayforyou to contributetothesuccessofRBS. RBS Family Retreat On Friday, September27th Dean Lei hosted theInaugural RBSFacultyand Staffs RetreatatForsgateCountryClubin MonroeTownship, NewJersey. Thegoal ofthe afternoon retreatwastobring facultyand stafftogetherin arelaxed and positive atmospheretocelebrate“Team RBS”. Facultyand staffparticipated in activitiesdesigned toencouragecollegialityand fun. Thedayended with theRBS Bannerflyover!

Collecting for a Cause Beta Gamma Sigma will behosting aSuppliesDrivefortheentiremonth ofFebruary. From February7toMarch 6, BGSwill becollecting blankets, outerwear(e.g. jackets, gloves, scarves, hats), and feminineproductsin the RBSundergraduateoffice. Pleasehelpsupportthiscauseforhomelessand women’sshelters. Donationscan bedropped offattheUndergarduateOffice at100Rock.

Muddy Paws Rescue Congratulations Hannah Murphy and familyon winning Petco Foundation’sMuddyPawsRescuecompetition ($25,000 grant). TheMurphysshared theirstorywith thePetco Foundation on howtheirdog Hudson changed theirlives when theybegan running together, shortlyaftertheir son B wasborn. “Ourgoal istohelpend the stigmaofrescuedogs.” Hudson isoneof50winners acrosstheU.S. and theirstorywon third place.
