I am very close to my family and wanted to stay close to go to college. Having LCCC’s campus locally helps me accomplish that goal. It’s also fascinating to have adult students mixed with younger students in class. More perspectives make the classes very interesting and dynamic. I have a lot of friends here and there are some great places to hang out. I plan to transfer my degree to Bloomsburg University to finish my education. LCCC is very affordable and won’t leave me with a huge debt after graduation.
Why LCCC? LCCC is the largest college in northeastern Pennsylvania offering the widest range of major programs. We are accredited through Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. You can earn an associate degree in two years and immediately enter the workforce or continue your education at a four-year institution. Plus, LCCC has transfer agreements with more than 40 baccalaureate colleges and universities and LCCC credits are accepted nationwide. We offer a quality, affordable education. Tuition and fees for a student enrolled full-time is the lowest in the area. In addition, more than two-thirds of our students receive financial aid. LCCC offers courses at convenient times and places. Take classes at the College’s main campus in Nanticoke, PA or one of our off-campus sites located throughout northeastern Pennsylvania. In addition, the College schedules courses during the day, in the evening and on the weekend. You can also enroll in an Internet course and learn at home.
We have an open door acceptance policy, which means we accept all interested students and work closely with each student to ensure his/her success in college and in the workforce. The faculty, who are experts in their fields, are dedicated to teaching as their first priority. Also, you don't just learn from a textbook. The instructors provide real world experience and help you work directly with the technology in your field. The College has more than 900 computers located in 40 academic labs and a wireless network consisting of 12 hot spots throughout the Main Campus for students to access the Internet. More than 50% of the College’s classrooms are “Smart Classrooms” which consist of an instructor computer, overhead projector, and network and Internet access. All students have access to College e-mail and network accounts.
Make your career choices happen. At LCCC there are over 100 majors to choose from. So you can be whoever you want to be: a journalist, a chef, an electrical engineer, computer programmer, motorsports pit crew member, biologist, nurse, graphic artist, accountant, architect, and more. Even if you don't know what you want to do as a career, you can try different classes, and you don't have to be a college junior or senior to take courses in your major. You start learning in your field your freshman year.

Elementary Education I wanted to attend LCCC for two years then continue my education at a local university. LCCC has great transfer programs. My sister and my friends all came to LCCC and highly recommended I attend here too. It was a great decision. I want to teach kids, I want to make a difference in a child’s life. I’m feel I’m getting a good education at LCCC. Everyone is very friendly, my instructors keep the classes interesting, and keep me motivated in my studies. I’m learning skills that I will definitely find useful in my career.
More choices. Our number one priority is giving you the best education you can receive. Our Arts and Sciences Programs are designed to develop your intellectual curiosity, expand your ability to think clearly based upon sound knowledge, practice good judgment, and be prepared to handle “real world” situations. Our statistics show that students who complete an associate of arts or associate of science degree at LCCC and go on to study at a fouryear institution perform as well as, or better than, students who complete all four years of study at a baccalaureate degree college or university. All of our programs provide individual attention by a dedicated faculty and staff who care about you as a person and who want to see you succeed personally and professionally. Our Technical-Career Programs will prepare you in the humanities, social sciences, basic sciences and appropriate technical courses. Through these programs, you will develop an understanding of the technical theory of a particular specialty, gain hands-on experience through laboratory and work opportunities, develop reasoning ability based on technical knowledge, and prepare for immediate employment as a trained technical professional.

choices and great fun. Currently, LCCC has more than 40 student organizations on campus. Whether you wish to participate in the student government, photography club, Circle K or work with the school newspaper, radio or television station, we have a student organization to fit your interests. Or maybe you like sports. If so, Luzerne County Community College supports many intercollegiate and intramural sports programs. LCCC competes in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (EPCC) and the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association (PCAA). LCCC is one of the founding members on the EPCC and has a longstanding tradition of excellence.

Aviation - Professional Pilot
Flying is a passion of mine. The thrill of having the controls in my hands and lifting into the sky and seeing the vast scenery from above is amazing. I went on my first airplane ride when I was a little kid. Since then, I have always dreamed of becoming a pilot. Now I’m enrolled in LCCC’s Aviation program and working toward becoming a professional pilot. I wanted to play sports. A lot of my friends chose Luzerne County Community College to go to school. They told me about the sports programs offered and encouraged me to enroll. This school is great! I enjoy all the sports programs here, especially playing on the baseball team. The faculty bring a lot of real world experiences to the classroom. They don’t just teach from books. They become your friend and care about making sure you do well in their classes.

The first thing you notice about our Main Campus is its size. The College’s technically-advanced buildings sit on a beautifully landscaped 167-acre campus in Nanticoke, PA. LCCC has a well stocked library with sophisticated literary databases and Internet access; a versatile 9,000 sq. foot gymnasium designed for basketball, volleyball, and a wide range of sporting activities; softball, baseball and soccer fields; the Student Campus Center, created just for students, holds a large cafeteria, weight and cardio rooms, student activities, tutoring and counseling. Other facilities include nursing and dental labs; full-sized professional culinary kitchen; science labs; and some of the most technologically advanced classrooms and laboratories in the northeast.
What’s the campus like?
LCCC’s Advanced Technology Center houses the area’s most technologically-developed communications departments equipped with a full television studio, radio station, audio recording studio, radio and television production/editing suites, computer graphics labs and more. Other technology labs include automotive bays, motorsports technology lab, manufacturing process lab, a robotics lab, and a computer-aided drafting lab. The commercial art wing houses photo and multimedia labs.

Make success happen. Our goal at LCCC is to make your experience at our College the best it can be. We go out of our way to provide you with the support and guidance you may need to reach your academic and career goals.
How will LCCC help me succeed? LCCC’s main responsibility is to work toward your success as a student and in your career goals. We provide you the support you need on both endeavors.
Academic Advising - As a day or evening student, you’ll work with an advisor to select your course of study. Your advisor will ensure that you are enrolled in the proper courses and that you are taking courses in the proper sequence. Advisors will provide you with information on appropriate course selection, major requirements, credit transfer, and college programs and services. You can seek input, ask questions and share ideas with your advisor. Personal Counseling - A professional staff of counselors is also available to assist you with personal counseling. We care about you as an individual and we know that you, as a student, can encounter a number of challenges at college, at work and at home. If the need arises, you can talk with a trained counselor who can assist you in dealing with a problem or who can refer you to the appropriate community service agency. Tutoring - You can receive free tutoring services on a one-to-one basis or you can participate in small group tutoring sessions. Skills Seminars - Monthly seminars are conducted during the academic year to help you enhance your learning skills in areas such as test-taking, time management, math anxiety, reading textbooks, note-taking, personal finances and many others.
LCCC makes careers happen. The Career Services Office at
Luzerne County Community College offers a wide range of services to students and alumni to help you put your degree to work and find career opportunities in your field. If you aren’t sure what field you want to enter, our staff can help guide you with career and self-assessment programs to see where your interests might lie. We also offer all the assistance you need landing a job. Individual and group sessions are offered in a variety of subjects including resume writing, interview skills, and job search skills. Numerous on-campus interviews are conducted with employers seeking college graduates. More than 90% of our graduates are currently employed or are attending a four-year college or university.
Luzerne County Community College has graduated more than 24,000 students who have found successful careers all over the country. With the huge success of computer-animated movies and computerized special effects, I want to pursue an education and career ultimately in integrating artwork into film. I am currently taking general education and commercial art courses at LCCC and will transfer my credits/degree to a local university. The professors here are very approachable and open to questions. I feel my experience at Luzerne County Community College has improved my communications skills and knowledge in my field and I will have better opportunities in my career.
