FIRST THREE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS

De s cription / Nefar is a traditional structure built in farms for collecting foods, resting, and keeping from animals. This project was made by Russian wood.

Descri pt i on / This was the final project of the pre-arc design 1. We had to choose the “roof”, which was designed and built by a prominent architect, and simulate the small model of that project. Our group decided to select the “PAUL KLEE ZENTRUM” by “Renzo ROOF MODELING Piano” after searching and looking a lot. Goals of modeling a roof I nst ruct or / Ali Alaei are learning search methods, also T ea mwork / Razieh becoming familiar with famous Divani, Setareh mohammad- architects and their projects. Loca tion / Darband, Tehran, Iran In s tru ct or / Saiid Mirriyahi Fall 2010 / 5th Semester De s crip t i on / In this project, I had to design a residential house for my own family contained the private office. My primary purpose was emphasizing on separation of zones with different functions to bring the happiness, tranquility, balance, etc. to members of the family. For this aim, I decided to design seperate levels for office, social spaces, and private zone. According to the topography of darband district, I could divide the building into different levels. Also, all buildings in this area were private residential houses in 2 or 3 levels. Furthermore, darband district has a very beautiful and green landscape. So, upstairs prepared comfortable places to arrange some balconies.

Loca tion / Haghani highway, Tehran, Iran / In s tru ct or / V.Pour Keramati Spring 2011 / 6TH Semester De s crip t i on / To design a polyclinic, the first step was going to some hospitals to collect data about spaces and requirements of clinics. Subsequently, I looked for a site to fulfill needs of polyclinic designing from the accessibility aspect. I found a ground in Haghani Highway which made my project more accessible. Also, I decided to design some places not needing natural light in the underground level. Moreover, I used the checkered paper to design a regular and logical plan. After that, I played with my cubic forms to attain my goals and appropriate plans and forms. A patio in the center of the building helped all the spaces around to become bright and attractive.

SU STAI NAB LE I SLAND Locati on / Hudson River, New York, US In struct or / B. Adibzadeh TEAM WORK / Razieh Divani, Setareh Mohammadpour Fall 2011 / 7th Semester Com p eti t i on bri ef / The Harlem Edge/ Cultivating Connections competition will explore the redevelopment of the decommissioned Department of Sanitation marine transfer station located in the Hudson River at 135th Street. The site offers the opportunity to engage the local Harlem community with the waterfront, and echoes recent efforts by New York City to reclaim the waterfront for non-industrial use, as included Department of City Planning in its Vision 2020, the Comprehensive Waterfront Action Plan for New York City. P ROJ ECT PURPOSES: •public access to the city waterfront •means in which urban agriculture can be introduced into the community •creative programming and its ability to stimulate economic activity •sustainability

In this semester our professor chose this competition for our architecture design, and we participate in this competition. Our main goal was preserving the old structure, because demolishing the structure caused more contamination that was in opposite with project purposes. So, we had the ramp connected the station to the wharf, and the E shape structure. Our design was divided into three parts to become suitable for the old structure. The middle part lifted up to the second floor to create the picturesque frame of Harlem River. So we attract all people by the beautiful scene which was finished with the stage for feeding birds. The whole shape of the project was a ship in the middle of the river. By designing curves in the roof, we decided to show the feeling of aspiration and flying to the pick. This concept would help us to invite more and more people.

The project provided the reasonable natural cycle made it sustainable. River could be the best source to produce water, electricity, and food. Also, some marine animals “oysters played a vital role in water filtration naturally, and ultimately this water could be used for hydroponic agriculture which was produced in the second floor and ate in restaurants. Furthermore, remain of foods of the restaurant was given to the birds and marine animals. Moreover, green way in the shore brought health and happiness to the project. Sustainable Island had this quality to ship healthy foods produced there, to other places. Ship station was designed by a ramp under the old ramp. In sum, all of these activities performed to help all people especially poor people to become healthy and happy, and also improve the quality of living by inviting them to Sustainable Island, interacting with people from different cultures and beliefs, and learning important materials free! All of these natural resources fulfilled our demands to create the nutrition charity in this place more creative and more usable. At the end of the term we held an exhibition in the university. Most of the professors came to visit our projects, and they encouraged us to attend these kinds of projects more. Also the university appreciated us for introducing this project to the university.

Loca tion / Ardestan, Isfahan, Iran In s tru ct or / Farhad Ahmadi Fall 2012 / 9th Semester COMPOSING TRADITIONAL AND MODERN ARCHITECTURE WITH THE SUSTAINABILITY APPROACH In my final project, I decided to design a high school for students of a remote place. I found a site in ARDESTAN city where has minimum facilities and people suffer from lack of schools. On the other hand, this city has special and ancient environment, for instance ARDESTAN JAME MOSQUE, so many special canals, air traps, and central yards that gave me some particular opportunities and values.

I decided to invite local people to build this high school. For this purpose, I chose local materials like brick that gave me the chanceto design a perforated shell According to the warm and dry weather, I arranged the central yard that was placed in the underground level. Also I designed perforated walls were continuously connected to the central yard and made a shell to cover the building, like canals that shells caused them to have the pleasant ventilation. I myself believe that schools must have attractive and happy environment. Also, students must feel relaxed. So, I changed the traditional form of classes and separated every class by determining single cubes for single class. So, students have no boundary but a perforated shell with the yard. Moreover, I completely separated the administrative zone and class zone to make students comfortable and relax and nothing distract them from studying.

Loca tion / Isfahan, Iran In s tru ct or / Kambiz Haji Ghasemi TE AM W ORK / Razieh Divani, Setareh Mohammadpour Fall 2012 / 9th Semester description / SAFA MOSQUE is one of the oldest mosques of ISFAHAN, IRAN. This building has never studied before. For history of lslamic architecture course, we decided to travel to ISFAHAN to collect essential information for preparing an article about this building. As a team work, we investigate all colorful tiles and writings on them to discover the exact date of construction. Also, the group of entrance elements plays a vital role in Islamic architecture to connect the outdoor and indoor of the building. We search about the relations of the spaces. For instance, spaces become narrower and smaller as much as you become closer to the indoor from the entrance door. Moreover, central yard is considerably essential to prepare light for rooms which are around the yard. Furthermore, there are verandas in north and south of the yard which help the yard to consider deeper and longer than reality. Every element in this mosque indicates the most important role in Islamic architecture. So, studying this mosque really helped us to broaden the horizon of our view.
