In 2013, RAW Impact was founded to bring together a movement of people who would get hands-on in the fight against some of the greatest injustices in the world today. We believe in giving the people of Cambodia a voice, amplified through great media and online platforms, empowering them to change their own lives permanently!

WHEN

WHO

Students and teachers from Hale School.

WHERE

We begin our trip in Phnom Penh where we will work at Taskor Village which is just across the Mekong River from Phnom Penh. Then we travel to Kratie Province to get stuck into project work in Ko Ki village, and finish the trip exploring Siem Reap.

WHAT

Hands-on rural village development through building, education and agricultural projects. Visiting a variety of tourist sites in Phnom Penh, exploring the famous Angkor Temples in Siem Reap.

ON THE GROUND WITH RAW

From day one you will be immersed into Cambodia’s rich culture and history. Visit some of the most powerful historical locations including the Khmer Rouge Killing Fields and S21 Genocide Museum, eat delicious Cambodian cuisine and explore local villages. Before you know it you will be in the sun, hitting the tools on one of our project sites working alongside our local building crew and family beneficiaries. Get amongst the action on our local village sleep-out, cook a meal with your family for $2 with plenty of time to interact with the kids. Through this trip you will experience a whole new way of life. From exploring the bustling markets, getting off the beaten track and venturing into places no tourist go. Expect the unexpected - get ready for a sensory overload that is sure to stay close to your heart for years to come.

RAW PROJECTS | CAMBODIA 2019

TA SKOR

Ta Skor is our first and most established project location directly over the Mekong River from Phnon Penh. It is home to SALT School and also where our Every Piece Matters project is rolling out to assist 100+ families into sustainable bamboo houses, provide quality education and empower livelihoods as well as provide solutions to significant debt issues. KRANGRALUAH

In 2015 we partnered with the Seeds Schools to support the operation of three kindergartens located in the Kampong Speu province, two hours South-West of Phnom Penh. The Krangraluah kindergarten lies in a string of five small villages where there is currently no other school. RAW Impact provides school infrastructure, teacher training and school recources. KO KI

Located 5 hours North-East of Phnom Penh in a UN red zone, Ko Ki Village consist of over 200 families forcibly relocated from a slum. This is one of the poorest villages we have encountered. We are currently working at the grass roots level to provide sustainable organic vegetable gardens, acess to clean water and water storage as well as starting to work with the local school. JUMPAH

Partnering with the Jumpah organisation since 2015, RAW Impact supports their well astablished projects through facilitating volunteer trips and co-ordinating specific project outcomes. The Jumpah projects include a small children’s home, established primary school, sustainable agricultural initiatives and wood working production factory. ITINERARY | CAMBODIA 2019

DAY 1 - 5 (7 - 11 December) PHNOM PENH

We’ll kick start the trip in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia! Our first team activity is our welcome dinner that evening so make sure you have arrived in Phnom Penh by 8.30am on the 7th to make it in time. Next up is cultural orientation checking out some historical sites in Phnom Penh such as S21 and the Killing Fields to get an understanding of Cambodia as well as a visit to the RAW Impact office to meet our team. We’ll spend four days working at our Every Piece Matters village where we’ll jump on the tools and get to work on a building project and have the opportunity to do a village sleepout!

DAY 6 - 9 (12 - 15 December) KRATIE

We will have a day of travel arriving in Kratie Province. Then after a day of rest, we’ll spend the next two days working on agriculture and water projects. There will also be the option to go kayaking down the Mekong River, and go for a bike ride around Trong Island.

DAY 10 - 12 (16 - 18 December) SIEM REAP

Our trip comes to an end with some rest and relaxation in Siem Reap. After a day of travel, we’ll enjoy a night out at the Phare Circus. We’ll then spend the morning checking out the temples and the world-famous Angkor Wat, finishing off the trip with a team dinner. The trip officially ends in Siem Reap on the 18th and will be for departures.

REGO FUND RAISE TRIP DOCS

Fill in your application and submit to Hale School. The school will let you know whether you are successful or not (as we have limited places on the trip).

If you are successful, you need to officially register by completing RAW’s online registration (a link will be emailed to you) and making your rego payment directly to the school (includes GST, non refundable and not tax-deductible).

RAW provides all trip participants with their own Everyday Hero page. Everyday Hero is a powerful online fundraising platform where you are able to create your own fundraising page and personally invite your friends, family and everyone you know to support you in your cause. Keep your eye out on your inbox for the fundraising link to get started.

Hale School will organise the following documents: 1. Your signed RAW Trip Agreement 2. Working with Children Check or National Police Certificate if you’re over 18. 3. Flight details - generally organised as a group booking 4. Your passport and a copy of the photo page 5. Your eVisa 6. Travel Insurance
