Water Journey

University of East London | 21-22

Tutors: Isaie Bloch, Igor Pantic

Water Journey is a proposed alternative to treating mental health in the educational cycle and an institutional way for students to maintain their general health. Utilizing water as a therapeutic treatment involves moving and exercising in water with different temperatures, pressures, and controlled movements of water.

The project is also an extension of the existing student housing on-site, giving students direct access to the facilities at any time. The project is also an exploration using the construction method of 3D printed walls with prefabricated glulam structure.

Riverside Museum| Zaha Hadid Ibsen Library| Kengo Kuma

University of East London | 21-22

Tutors: Isaie Bloch, Igor Pantic

The case study for this project are the Riverside Museum of Transport in Glasgow and the Henrik Ibsen Library in Skien. Investigating the roof structure of the Riverside Museum with a zig-zagging roof and cladded with zinc and the roof system of the Ibsen Library roof feature that sweep upwards with softly curved and staggered. Taking that features and redesign them with timber and clay.

Attemps on printing parts of the remodelled building. The printing direction is in single direction which is the vertical way. Initally, we tried with 4mm nozel and it did not work as the model is a single surface. Next started from a clean model, we tried with 8mm nozel and unfortunatley it still did not work. We tried to change the speed of printing and other settings too but still failed. Finally, for the last test run we tried with offseting the surface on both side for 0.3cm for each surface and it was a success.

A collaboration project with the local town hall as the centre of the celebration of the local culture from the aspect of local product production and marketing in foods and cosmetics. Encouraging the local business by joining together as a community to raise awareness of the local products among the public, as well as acting as an educational centre to learn about the production of the goods, and helping the local business community by providing a large working space and sharing common facilities such as the marketing hall and storage space to lower financial expenses.

Climatorium| 3XN

University of East London | 20-21

Tutors: Isaie Bloch, Jakub Klaska

The objective of the first term group project is advanced investigation into the chosen case studies. The Climatorium competitional design is our chosen case study. Each project is led by a project leader with a group size of 3 to 4 members. Working in a group will allow the members to work on different aspects of the case study while also working on the same massing folder handed down by the project leader. The aim is to understand the build-up of the structural tectonics.

El centro

Limkokwing University of Creative Technology

| 17-18

Tutors: Andrew Wong

There is connection between human and nature. The relation of the site and the building itself is an indication of culture, history, human background. On the site, it is clearly showing how detached are the neighbouring buildings from the nature. Connection between the nature and human are the key of this project. The design idea of El Centro, where nature are designed around humans’ life is the bridge to connect the development to the city center of Petaling Jaya.

design concept site synthesis

The site is located in Setapak PJ, surrounded with Malaysias’ capital cities. The requirement of the building is to have residential units and shoplots on site.

The apartment units and shoplots are separated by the cafe and garden to create privacy to the tenants.

The commercial area are all located on the ground floor.

The aparment units are from the first floor to the highest floor. Some units are also built on the ground floor but only located on rear of the building.

To summarise the design, the buildings are separated into three blocks with differ in height offering views to every tenants and ensuring the possiblity of having natural cross ventilation in every units.

broadgates prize Into the light

The project is to invite pedestrians into the world of Broadgate towards Finsbury Square with the help of way findings to ensure the public safety and to generate knowledge of what work and type of activities are happening in Broadgate. Given that the material are subsequently steel and glass on the existing buildings, the ever changing weather in London that sometimes comes within a day of sun, rain, wind and snowish that the team yearned for colour and vibrancy.

Speaking of rain, climate change has been in our ears for a number of years and so the team decided to slow down the water from flowing to the drainage to avoid overflow by creating a system within the structure to delay the water flow. In any case, a modular approach was also in mind for quicker assembly and disassembly as well as accessible maintenance particularly the drainage section.

Kentledge are used to stabilise the whole structure (how many?) as well as using lightweight upcycled materials that can be used over and over again thanks to its passport. The first priority is safety of construction workers, inabling tresspassers by conscious design and the general public as the construction continues.

Design and structure was next for pedestrians to feel curious and welcomed within the Broadgate environment. The into the light Tunnel is for making sure that the public safe and curious as well as making it interactive and knowledgeable.

Advertisement of local shops, maps and perhaps do video recording of what’s within the Broadgate environment can be used within the hoarding or within the tunnel so as people will know what to expect.
