Lakeview’s Margaret Lincoln receives Distinguished Service Award The Calhoun Area School Board Members Association (CASBMA) presented three prestigious awards at its annual dinner meeting on April 23, 2014. Marion Ramer, Association President announced that this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Professional Award was Lakeview School District Librarian Margaret Lincoln. The Distinguished Citizen Award was presented to Floyd Beneker of Marshall and a Special Commendation was given posthumously to James R.C. Hazel, Jr., of Battle Creek. She also worked with community partners to open these exhibits and presentations to the greater community. Gigi continues to address social issues through presentations and professional publications and through the creation of instructional resources. Her leadership in using technology as a tool to advance student learning continues to influence instructional practices throughout the greater educational community. She has collaborated to create multiple online resources now available to teachers both locally and nationally on the Teachers Page of the Library of Congress and REMC’s Michigan Learns Online Portal. Most recently, she worked with Lakeview High School Social Studies teacher Scott Durham to pilot a blended learning classroom while Scott provided instruction from abroad. This work laid the groundwork for a collaborative online course which is being team-taught by Scott and a Battle Creek Central teacher, bringing together students from both districts in a virtual learning environment.
