Lords Hotels turning mundane stays into exemplary ‘wow’ experiences
While in conversation with Mr. Pushpendra Bansal, Chief Operating Officer, Lords Hotels & Resorts, I got a fair chance to speak to one of the most grounded and humble personalities. A philanthropist at heart, a civil engineer by profession and a hotelier by passion has done wonders in his capacity in one of the fastest growing mid-segment hotel chains in India and Nepal, Lords Hotels & Resorts. With his prolonged efforts, the brand has garnered substantial importance within a decade of its inception. Look what all he has got to share on his journey…
By Arushi Bajaj
Mr. Bansal is a civil engineer by profession who extended his family business in construction, executing projects for industry giants such as L&T, ONGC, ESSAR. After his stint with brands of repute he moved to the United States where he acquired hotels, motels and resorts. Having said that, he wanted to replicate his experience and passion in India too. This is when he ventured into the hospitality business and initially owned hotels in Mumbai and then in Surat. In due course of time, Lords Hotels and Resorts was formed. Group’s penchant for perfection lies in the fact that they have always been a preferred choice of the travellers, whether for business or leisure.
Today Lords Hotels and Resorts invigorate their presence with 57 hotels in 13 states and 2 countries in India and Nepal. Had the Covid-19 outbreak not taken place, things would have been way too different, he said. The journey was turbulent for him but they survived and thrived as they gear up to augment their footprint in the northeast.
The hotel is all set to evolve in a big and better way since people are ready to adopt ‘Revenge Tourism’ after being locked down for the almost two years. “We are very hopeful and see a massive potential in domestic sector. We are working hard with due diligence and with practical approach while not compromising on the SOPs.” He added.
The only challenge he refers to is the ‘challenge of manpower’ as the lack of availability of lower staff persists in the sector. He emphasizes, “With flexible approach and the fact that Indian style of construction can never go out of fashion, we will come across all hurdles. With proper training and education, skilled manpower can be formed because when ‘I becomes We’ nothing can go wrong! Multitasking is the key."

EXPLORE THE UNEXPLORED
AS INDIA GEARS UP FOR EXOTIC HOLIDAYS
India is brimming with plethora of holiday destinations that are untouched and becoming popular, all thanks to Covid-19 pandemic! The unexplored domestic destinations are on the rise among Indian families as international travel takes back seat. Mr. Dinesh Kumar Kotha, Cofounder and CEO, Confirmtkt says, “An average Indian prefers adventure travel while exploring lesser-known domestic places.” Read more in detail to know about the hidden gems of India.

Popular destinations have always appealed to a considerable shift in consumer habit, indicating a rise in travel in lesser-known destinations. The most popular tourist hotspots have more or less been discovered at every square mile and promptly cataloged on social media. Travelling there has become a bit too commercial and marketed that these places have lost their charm and don't provide any respite, escape, or adventure.
Travellers might want to escape from the tech-fuelled, high octane, overcrowded, and anxiety-inducing everyday life. As a result, today's traveller tends to prioritize traveling on rougher roads, places that showcase the natural beauty of lesser people. Another noticeable trend that has been on the uptick in the aftermath of the pandemic has been the increased tourist traffic in domestic destinations. Indians have realized that travel doesn't necessarily always have to be an expensive international tour package. It turns out a commute to a couple of states can have a more relaxing effect than any international travel. The vast nation of India has several hidden tourist wonder spots that are not geographically pinned, offering a life-altering journey.

Coonoor, Tamil Nadu
This remote, mysterious place illustrated with an abundance of greenery, expanses of green fields, and wondrous hills is perhaps the best epitome of the quantity offered in domestic travel. It is cost-effective and not lacking in splendor or adventure. From indulging yourself in the Nilgiri Mountain toy train ride, trekking in the hidden valley, or immersing yourself in a relaxing family picnic at Sim's park, there is something for every type of traveller. While there are also the mesmerizing Katary waterfalls, Law's falls, and Catherine falls, for water enthusiasts, there is also the Droog Fort for the history buff and the Acres Wild Cheese Manufacturers to state the artisan curiosity in you. Best of all, this place is just an abundance of natural beauty that is serene to the traveller’s soul. If you search for a place equivalent to the Galapagos Islands, or Bali, or some no-name French beach, then Varkala is your destination. You get to soak your feet in the glistening clear waters of the Arabian Sea. If a retreat is your idea of travel, then travel straight to this beach. Almost every tourist attraction here is aimed at producing a calming effect. Apart from the beautiful beach, you can visit the architectural splendor of Anjengo Fort & Lighthouse. You can also pick up a yoga class from the deluge of yoga studios available. Immerse yourself in the regional heritage by visiting the Varkala Culture Center and gaze-in-awe at some of the beauties of the ocean at the Varkala Aquarium. There is also the Kilimanoor Palace to glimpse and experience the luxuries the early monarchs enjoyed. For the adventurer in you, there is an exciting range of water sports from surfing, jet skiing, parasailing, and so on.

Varkala, Kerala

Bhuj, Gujarat
A touch of the desert, an abundance of mind-bending architectural wonders, and picturesque natural perfection are just a minute detail in the heritage-steeped place called Bhuj. You can start at the Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary, which also happens to be home to the largest seasonal saline wetlands. This sanctuary, established in 1986, is home to some of the most beautiful fauna of mother nature. You can enjoy a true visual treat by visiting the AinaMahal and ridding out the law-defying architectural principle of Shri Swaminarayan Temple. You can also soak in the calming effects of Pirotan Island and pick up a camel ride at Mandvi Beach. This is a place that can surely entertain the pickiest of tourists.
Travellers today seek out a holistic experience. They wish to visit places with mystery and beautiful sights while getting an experience that makes a great adventure story. As these places fit very well into budgeted travel, people travel more frequently and explore them rather than blowing their savings and traveling to one international place.
The list above is only a fraction of the wondrous places in India. With the recent developments in travel technology, travellers now have access to almost everywhere. India, and by extension, the world, is ready to be discovered. So pick a date, and pack your bags. There are so many places to find, and there is no time like the present.

Dimapur, Nagaland
One of the most expansive and jaw-dropping hill stations in the northeastern part of India is Dimapur. Dimapur is littered with scenic beauty, and you can start by visiting the heart-stopping Triple Falls. Glistening streams of water that caress the red rocks and drop from 280ft is genuinely one of the most spectacular tectonic creations. You can also inspect the mind-boggling monoliths of Kachari Ruins. Go bazaar shopping for souvenirs, trinkets, and some truly remarkable pieces of handicrafts all over the buzzing streets of Dimapur shopping street. You can also tickle your intellect at the Nagaland Science Center and gape at the wondrous creatures of the wild at the Zoological Park. All in all, this mysterious place is one of the must-visits.

Ratnagiri, Maharashtra
If beaches, palaces, temples defy all laws of architecture and wondrous natural sights, then Ratnagiri is the ideal spot for you. You get to interact with history itself at the 16th century Jaigad Fort (Fort of Victory). You can get in touch with your spiritual self by visiting the illustrious 400-year-old pink temples of SwayambhuGanapati. For recreation, you can visit Thibaw Point or drop by the clear waters of Ganpatipule Beach. There is also the Tilak Ali Museum, which is the home of the ‘The Father of the Indian Unrest.’ Furthermore, prepare to be gaping in awe at the architectural wonders of the Jai Vinayak Temple, Thiba Palace, and Ratnadurg Fort, to name a fraction that this place houses.

Booking.com
As per Booking.com, the leading digital travel brand, the solo travel trend is likely to gather even greater momentum; travel was stymied by the pandemic, which will likely nudge travellers to take the plunge on their own in 2021. According to the data, prepandemic saw only 18 percent of Indian travellers planning a trip on their own while 54 percent of travellers now say that they will be planning a solo trip in the future. With 49 percent of travellers saying that they would want to travel more to make up for the time lost in 2020, this sentiment is encouraging travellers to plan the solo trip of a lifetime to get back out in the world.
With the world going digital, the application of IT, e-commerce and similar technology solutions within the fields of tourism, travel and hospitality have prevailed in the recent past. Technology can be deployed to enhance the customer experience before, during and after the trip itself. Travel technology can help businesses to streamline their processes, or even automate processes that would traditionally require active human involvement. This can then potentially help a business to reduce staffing requirements, cut costs and increase the amount of income they generate, leading to improved financial results.
