Rail trains

Herzog Railroad Services, Inc., has added the GEN II Rail Train to its line of railroad maintenance products and services. The company notes that traditionally, rail trains were built on compressed flat cars, Herzog has moved away from that design and built its first train on an intermodal spine car chassis. Herzog says the reduction in slack due to the removal of the standard couplers and implementation of articulated ones throughout the entire train, was a major improvement and the company is confident that this will allow for improved train handling by reducing the draft and buffed forces commonly associated with conventional rail trains using standard couplers. The company notes that railroads may see a fuel savings, as well. Herzog’s remote-controlled Automated Tie Down Car can also be constructed to fit the train. Phone: 816-244-5742.
