Radian’s ‘Walk for Housing’ was a huge success! Over a hundred people were accompanied by a Samba band whilst they ‘Walked for Housing’ across Southampton on 11 March to urge politicians to end the UK’s housing crisis within a generation. Radian were asked by the National Housing Federation to lead the Southampton walk, which set off from Centenary Quay in Woolston and finished in Guildhall Square in the city centre. Spirits were high with speeches by housing professionals, Radian residents and music from a traditional Brazilian steel band motivating the walkers. Lindsay Todd, Chief Executive at Radian, said: “We’ve played a part in the larger National Housing Federation campaigning for Homes for Britain because not enough houses are being built every year. This sliding effect means that our children will struggle to get any sort of housing. We believe that housing associations and the wider political society must do something on a long-term sustainable basis so that everyone has somewhere to live.” A mix of people joined together on the day including homeowners,

Winchester Night Shelter, Radian staff and neighbouring housing associations including First Wessex, Aster Homes, Saxon Weald, Hyde Group and the Society of St James. The local TV crew also made an appearance, and we were featured on ITV Meridian News.

Rachel Vincent, Walk for Housing Event Coordinator at Radian says: “It was fabulous to see so many people come out and support us in the name of Homes for Britain. This shows that so many of us care about the housing crisis and what it means for future generations.” More on page 10...
