Back Alley Billiards, in McAlester, Okla., hosted a 5-speed & under 8-Ball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 25. After, more than eight hours of pool playing, Larry Davenport, of Crowder, Okla., won the title of tournament champion. Lee Riddle, of McAlester, place second; Shan Weiher, of Krebs, took third, and Tony Pipino, of McAlester, finished fourth. Davenport drew a bye in the first round of play before winning his next match 4-0 against Wayland Brown, of McAlester, and the following match 4–1 against Mike Webb, of Tulsa. Davenport then played Pete Manschreck, of McAlester, and won that match 4-2. He then played Weiher and won the match 4-1, while also winning the hot seat position. Davenport

then played Riddle in the finals and won the championship title in the first match with a score of 4-2. He won a total of $280 in tournament winnings and Calcutta money. Riddle, who took 2nd place in the tournament, won $185 in tournament winnings and Calcutta money. After getting a bye for his first match, Riddle won his first match against Kenny Deatherage, of Ada, then lost his next match 4-2 to Manschreck. Riddle then made his way through the back side of the bracket. He beat Glenn Marshall, of Ada, with a 4-0 score. Riddle then beat Webb 4-1 and Johnny Williams, of Sallisaw, with a score of 4-3. Riddle then

went on to beat Pipino 4-3 and Weiher 4-2, to move on to the championship match. Weiher, who took 3rd place, won $120 in tournament and Calcutta winnings. Weiher drew a bye in his first round and then beat Eric Hennings, of McAlester, with a 4-3 score. Weiher went on to beat Pipino 4-1 and Williams 4-3. He then lost the hot seat match to Larry Davenport and the semi-final match to Lee Riddle. Back Alley Billiards hosts a tournament every Saturday.
