TRIALS AND JUMPOUTS

Eligibility To Trial

Trainers are advised that restrictions on horses permitted to barrier trial, as printed in each edition of The Races WA.

Trainers are advised to familiarise themselves with the eligibility restrictions for horses to trial by clicking here. Horses entered for trials that are not eligible under this criteria, will be permitted to trial but be subject to a further fee of $110 (additional to the standard trial fee).

HORSES ELIGIBLE FOR TRIALS ARE:

Horses referred back to trials by Stipendiary Stewards.

Horses which have not raced or trialled in the preceding 6 weeks.

All two-year-old horses. Must be ridden by a licensed jockey or apprentice who has ridden in at least fifty races. . Consideration will be given to apprentices (including trainees) who have ridden in less than 50 races, to ride unraced horses (3yo and over) provided the horse has completed a satisfactory trial and is free of any embargo.

All three-year-old horses.

All unraced horses. Must be ridden by a licensed jockey or apprentice who has ridden in at least fifty races. Consideration will be given to apprentices (including trainees) who have ridden in less than 50 races, to ride unraced horses (3yo and over) provided the horse has completed a satisfactory trial and is free of any embargo.

Horses ridden by non-permit apprentices, or apprentices who have had less than fifty race rides.

Trainers wishing to trial a horse not eligible under the standard conditions (see above) must declare this at the time of nomination and will be subject to a further fee of $110 (additional to the standard trial fee).

LATE NOMINATIONS will NOT BE ACCEPTED unless under exceptional circumstances, such as communication or clerical error.

TRIAL ENTRIES

A HORSE MUST COMPLETE A SATISFACTORY TRIAL WITH THE FOLLOWING GEAR PRIOR TO APPLICATION FOR ITS USE IN A RACE: (Trainers should request approval with stewards at trials)

Trainers are reminded that no horse shall be permitted to start in a trial unless the following has been completed.

• Horse registered with Racing Australia (48 hours prior to close of nominations)

• Stable return lodged with Racing Australia (24 hours prior to close of nominations)

Trial Fees

Senior Jockey $100.00 (ex. GST)

Apprentice Rides $40.00 (ex. GST)

HORSES ELIGIBLE FOR SUPERVISED JUMP OUTS ARE:

Unraced horses.

Unnamed horses (must be branded).

In accordance to the Register of Nationally Approved Gear –Prior to being permitted to wear a combination of Blinkers/Visor Blinkers or Winkers with a Nose Roll in a race, a two year old or unraced horse must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to acceptance time wearing the relevant gear. Horses which have previously raced do not have to trial for approval.

Trainers please be advised that it is an obligation that the ID CARD is presented when a horse first trials and if such requirement is not met, Stewards will record that the inspection was not completed and as such the horse will not be permitted to trial or race until the ID CARD is presentedThis can be at its second trial or first race start.

These are organised trials and will be conducted under the supervision of the Stipendiary Stewards. Heats will be for:

TWO-YEARS-OLD (from September onwards if sufficient entries)

Belmont Park 400 metres & 1000 metres

Lark Hill 400 metres & 950 metres

Bunbury 400 metres & 1000 metres

THREE-YEARS-OLD

Belmont Park 400 metres & 1000 metres

Lark Hill 400 metres & 950 metres

Bunbury 400 metres & 1000 metres

FOUR-YEARS-OLD & OVER

Belmont Park 1000 metres & 1200 metres

Lark Hill 950 metres & 1450 metres

Bunbury 400 metres, 1000 metres & 1400 metres

Ascot/Belmont Park

First Heat will not run before 8.30am

Lark Hill

First Heat will not be run before 8:30am (summer)

Bunbury

First Heat will not run before 9.30am (weather permitting)
