IDEA TO STEAL kitchen that would be within the family's budget, m o s t of which had been given over to building the extension. “Ihe clients had an idea of what they wanted. but they certainly looked to usfor inspiration.’ he recalls. 'Ihere were some features they were happy to swap to avoid overspending and others were must-haves. For example, they didn't w a n t to compromise on the Carrara marble splashback and instead c u t back on the specification of the appliances. substituting some very high-end products with a more affordable brand.’ Proving that good design doesn’t always have to blow the budget, Munro came up with some clever features to make the kitchen

feel asmodern and seamless aspossible. As well asintroducing some statement timber veneer to draw the eye towards the island, he also disguised the door that leads to the hallway. ‘Having a prominent door would have mined the look of a long r u n of tall units. Instead, it’s clad in the same white m a r t lacquer asthe cupboards. making it virtually invisible,v says Munro. After months of emails and phone calls, the family finally moved into their newly extended home and immediately fell in love with the kitchen. They were very happy with the final result,’ reveals Munro. ‘Dcspite having to keep an eye on costs, this kitchen feels luxurious and stylish.' GD
