rest before and after laughs is important too ... the ability to recognize and then cut things that don't work or aren't funny. Sometimes, this means cutting one joke because the joke after it is better, but nobody can hear the second joke because they're laughing at the first one. Sometimes, it means cutting a joke because it's tonally not right in that scene or moment ? having different types of jokes for different types of people.
