LONG’S PARK AMPHITHEATER FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR DIGITAL CONCERT SERIES

(LANCASTER, PA) – Long’s Park Amphitheater Foundation is excited to announce plans for this year’s digital concert series, an alternative to in-person concerts previously scheduled for the annual Summer Music Series.

“As with many other organizations, the Foundation has experienced significant programming challenges resulting from COVID-19,” says Brad Zuke, chair of the Summer Music Series Committee. “But instead of having a gap year, we’re pivoting to a digital platform for our concerts. We do realize it won’t be the same experience from home as it is in-person, but we hope residents can enjoy these concerts while also staying safe and healthy.”

Our digital concert series will include: exclusive pre-recorded content from artists who were scheduled to perform as part of the original series; live performances from local singer-songwriters streamed from the amphitheater stage; and professionally-mixed audio from popular performances at previous summer concerts. All content will be streamed and shared at 7pm on Sundays beginning June 7 on our social channels and website (www.longspark.org).

Here’s what you can look forward to in June:

June 7: Tune in for exclusive pre-recorded content from blues singer Thornetta Davis. Davis is known as “Detroit’s Queen of the Blues” and her strong, commanding, melodic voice has won her more than 30 Detroit Music awards. Learn more:

June 14: Join local singer-songwriters Joy Ike and Adam Blessing, whose piano and guitar-led performances will be streamed live from the amphitheater stage.

June 21: Enjoy this professionally-mixed recording of the 2017 Summer Music Series live performance from jazz fusion artists BRAND X. Recognized as pioneers in the music industry, BRAND X has helped create an entire musical genre and influenced a wide range of musicians and bands. June 28: Led by their powerhouse frontwoman Julie Cymek, Sweet Leda will perform original music inspired by a rich blend of new school funk, psychedelic rock, soul and pop. Described as “Zeppelin meets Chili Peppers,” Sweet Leda’s anticipated show-stopping performance will be livestreamed from the amphitheater stage. Learn more about Sweet Leda: http://sweetleda.com/.

Please note that livestreamed performances from the amphitheater stage are not open to the public, and we kindly ask residents to practice a safe, social distance from the stage and artists.

A month after the series was deemed canceled due to COVID-19 risks, the Long's Park Amphitheater Foundation today put out a press release announcing a revised schedule, comprised of an assortment of professionally-mixed past performances, as well as livestreamed performances from the amphitheater stage that will be closed to the general public.

"Instead of having a gap year, we’re pivoting to a digital platform for our concerts," says Summer Music Series Committee chairman Brad Zuke. "We do realize it won’t be the same experience from home as it is in-person, but we hope residents can enjoy these concerts while also staying safe and healthy.”

When artists perform live, the amphitheater will be mic'd up specically for livestreaming, not in the traditional way that past concerts have been presented for large crowds in the park.

Thus far, only the June schedule has been announced to the public, but the foundation says that schedules for July and August will be released in the coming weeks. As with past years, each performance will take place each Sunday night at 7 p m

June 7

Joy Ike, singer/songwriter, with Lancaster's Adam Blessing. This performance will be streamed live from the Long's Park Amphitheater stage and will be closed to the general public.

June 21

Brand X, jazz fusion band. This will be a digital presentation of the band's 2017 Long's Park performance.
