I feel proud evermore to be a part of such fascinated as well as the grand publication of Rotaract Club of Dharmanagar. We are releasing this bulletin on the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Nation. It was like 10 th of August we decided to organize this bulletin and after that so much hard work done by project chairperson, Rtr. Sandip Das is just awesome. I can proudly say without the help of him, the bulletin wouldn’t have been successful.

This bulletin covers some the vision of PDDRs’ and some of their best memories. Thanks to all the PDRRs’ who have actively participated in this initiative. Hope that everyone will enjoy reading this bulletin. I am thankful to all our club members for their never-ending immense support. I want to give special thanks to our Immediate Past President Rtr. Sandip Das & President Rtr. Ananya Bhattacharya for their tremendous support. I would be grateful to you if you can give me any constructive feedback about the bulletin so that I can improve upon my shortcomings in the future. Finally, wishing a prosperous life to everyone. Rtr. Ananya Bhattacharya President

Torrid Rota Greetings!! Its been one and a half year only that I've become a part of Rotary-Rotaract movement and started loving it from the very beginning of joining RAC Dharmanagar, with passing days I became more inquisitive about this noble organisation - Rotaract. Rota-Rath is like cherry on top for me, which added more joy and gladness in my Rota-journey. I am really very delighted to present Rota-Rath in my tenure. Honestly speaking I had not to do much for this magazine, the project chairperson Rtr. Sandip Das and the editor Rtr. Debaditya Hom Roy are the masters behind this masterpiece.

Thanks to all the PDRRs from the bottom of my heart for sharing their journey and experiences with us, this will surely amplify our knowledge of Rotaract and we will be able to gather more and more information about the History of charismatic RID 3240. Ending my message with a great hope that everyone will like and acknowledge our attempt of portraying beloved RID 3240 in a different way. Regards, Rtr. Ananya Bhattacharya President

Rotaract Club of Dharmanagar

Rtr. Sandip Das Project Chairperson

Rota-Rath is a kind of dream magazine for me, since 2012 I am in this movement and always wanted to know more about it, i was always curious to know about the contribution of our past DRRs, their tenures, their experiences and it was my urge to put all these in front of the new Rotaractors as I feel everyone of us are hungry to know more and more Rota-History. I am sure that this will enhance the rotaract knowledge of the rotaractors and will help to know the glorious past years of RID 3240.

I talked with many of them for the 1st time but they were so cooperative so motivating that i never felt awkward to speak. We are grateful that our district was guided by them once upon a time. Thanks to RAC Dharmanagar for choosing me as the project chairperson for this bulletin. Thanks to Rtr. Ananya and Rtr. Debaditya for your remarkable tremendous work. I hope that everyone will like this.

After going through all the articles of our PDRRs I Regards realised that everyone of them were so much dedi- Rtr. Sandip Das cated towards this movement that they did everything to uplift the district 3240. I cant express in words my gratitude towards all the PDRRs who has shared their experiences with us in Rota-Rath in spite of having busy schedules.

Late PDRR Navin Kumar Jain DRR 1990-91

A tribute to: Charter DRR Navin Kumar Jain....

Charter DRR addressed the gathering with his words of motivation. It was a memorable journey for me too, having got the opportunity to spend time with two learned PDRRs of our District. The year 2018 brought more worries to his health as he was suffering from kidney problems. Even then, he had an iron will and I remember him undergoing dialysis on alternate days. In such chalRtn. Rajib Sarkar Rotaract District lenging situation, he was seen to Secretary 2015-2016 arrange cold beverages for the ongoing people in hot summer days of June month. Truly, it was, 'Service above Self'. Finally, it was his ill health that created the loss. Dada was at Kolkata for treatment and I had bid him bye the last evening, hoping that he was coming back soon with better and renewed energy. But as luck would have it... He had made his final journey for eternity.... The news made me feel thunderstruck. It was an untimely passing away of such a nice person..Indeed a big loss for his near and dear ones and also for District 3240...... May his soul rest in peace.

PDRR Navin Kumar Jain, was the Charter DRR of our R.I.District 3240, from the city of Asansol. A person with a big heart, Navin da, as I used to call him, was always aware of all the Rotaract activities that went on throughout the district. Many a times when I went to Asansol, I would drop in at his place and he would narrate about his days of Rotaract. I heard how he had been instrumental in forming District 3240 from the undivided district 329 and his journey to various parts of this geographically diversified district of Rotary International. Navin da was intent on training and club assemblies for Rotaractors. I remember once we were in a program hosted by Rotaract Club of Raniganj and as a guest speaker, he stressed on the need of knowledge about Rotary and Rotaract. As a patron of the Rotaract activities, Navin da was a kind hearted person and a willing sponsor for youth activities. I vividly remember how dada used to feel happy whenever any serving DRR visited Asansol. A dinner with him was compulsory at the prestigious Asansol Club. I was also invited as a District official and also being his loved one. Even when Rtr. Deepjyoti Das was at Asansol in 2018 as DRR Elect, Navin da was very pleased and we had nice times meeting and talking. Another incident which I must mention was his journey to Agartala to attend Installation ceremony of DRR Namra Kar. Navin da knew that he was not keeping well. One day he told me that he wished to attend the Installation ceremony of DRR Namra as she Rtn. Rajib Sarkar had invited him and insisted to come. Navin da wanted to meet the R. C. Durgapur. Rotaractors of the entire district and this was probably the last R. I. District 3240 District event that he attended. Myself, Navin da and Prem da took the flight to Agartala on 8th July, 2017 and Namra was so happy to receive us. In the evening, we were at the ceremony Hall and the

LEAD AND LOVE ROTARACT The Key factor in life is the human factor, Human beings must change and develop in conformity with the needs of time. As individuals, as a society, as a nation, we have always been looking at what to take from tradition, what to take from modern life on modern inventions and also what to reject. Rotaract is one such place from where the lead can start: Lead, so that the pace of the world order based on love under standing, friendship, Justice and equality is faster. Start intimacy to lead dear fellow Rotaractors: Lead and love Rotaract in the community, indentify the needs and work to alleviate the suffering. Lead and love Rotaract in your club, train yourself prepare to take the responsibilities that are coming your way. Lead and love Rotaract in your vocation profession to promote high standards of ethics, lead by example. Lead and love Rotaract in the world, work to promote harmony and peace Dear Rotaractors, love is the greatest motivating factor, Let all our activities draw their sustenance from Love. Lead to achieve objectives of health for all lead to preserve the environment so that our existence is not threatened by the depletion of nature. Let us remember once again as Coleridge wrote . He prayeth best, who loveth best All things both great and small For the dear Ged whe loveth us He made and loveth all. Yours-in-Rotaract Rtr CHANDU AGARWAL District Rotaract Representative | R. I. PDRR Jagdish Jhunjhunwala DRR 1993-94

Dear Rotaract Friends, My warm Greetings to you all.. “Smile, Serve & Grow” was my theme when I was the DRR of this wonderful RI District way back in 1993-94. The theme was aptly chosen to envelop three main avenues of Rotaract. 

SMILE - Fellowship under ‘Club Service’

SERVE - Service to Mankind under ‘Community Service’

GROW - Professional & Business Development under ‘Vocational Service’

I had usurped the reins of the district as a DRR under very tough times as I was given just one month to prepare my plans, form a council and publish district directory. Believe me, it was a challenge considering the vast geographical area covered in our district. Communicating to all the clubs and office bearers of the district was never smooth. To add to this, we were simply a sponsored club to Rotary and never a Partner in Service for them. Nevertheless, my tenure finally culminated with so many fond memories to cherish forever. I had the privilege of visiting all the clubs of the district, as far as Mokokchung in Nagaland. Rotasia at Aurangabad and District Conference at Burdwan were mesmerizing. It was a personal achievement for me to be honored as the Best DRR at Agra during the South East Asian DRR meet. To all those who contributed to the cause of Rotaract Movement during my tenure as DRR, I tender my heartfelt & sincere gratitude to them, specially to my DS, Rtn. Ajit Bhagat of Burdwan. A leader creates followers, but a good leader creates more good leaders. A good leader has an unconventional vision and knows to convert his ideas into real-life success stories. I am glad to witness such good leaders in our Rotaract Movement in past few years.

My best of wishes to you all - “always and in all ways”. Mera Rotaract Mahaan ! With lots of love and regards

To Rtr Ananya Bhattacharya (President – RC Dharmanagar) Rtr Sandip Das (Project Chairperson – Rota-Rath, Time Travel in DRRs’ Chariot) RI Dist: 3240

Dear Rtr Friends Ananya/Sandip Let me first compliment you & your club members for coming out with this nostalgic idea. Through this project of yours I am compelled to bring out our old files, picture albums almost after 25 years. But this definitely made us feel proud of our tenure as DRR.

Thank You so much for refreshing our memories and through this Rota-Rath Rotaractors of our District will come to know many untold facts of our District to our new generation and these will go down as record of District’s history. My best wishes to all of you once again. Yours in Rotary

District Theme Justification

District Theme was: ‘DEVELOP THROUGH ROTARACT’ – Rotaract is one of the excellent organization in the world which gives an opportunity for the Youth to Develop themselves. Development will be an all-round development with focus on Leadership Development. Also providing service through fellowship. It provides passport to the Youths all over the world for International Friendship.

The theme emphasizes the Youth in the age bracket of 18 to 30 years to join Rotaract, participate in its activities and thus develop themselves to be one of the leader in the society. It gives an excellent opportunity to any ordinary youth to become extra ordinary by coming in contact with this unique organization. Rotaract days have taught me personally many things. Whatever I am professionally today I owe this to our great organization. Hence I request all present Rotaractors to involve themselves with the activities of Rotaract without any expectations but at the end you all will come out with flying colors.

Brief story of my DRRship with a Photograph: The year was 1993, Jagdish Jhunjhunwala was the DRR of our District and I was the District Secretary, we were on the DRR’s official visit to North East areas. The discussion about the next DRR started at Jorhat when we met with then DRCC Rtn Jasbir Singh Bedi. The time Jagdish took over the DRR ship there was some turmoil in the District but the leadership of Jagdish gave a confidence amongst Rotarians & Rotaractors of our District that everything will be smooth very soon. As Jagdish & me were closely working together to give a proper shape & direction to our District hence it was our then DRCC who came up with the idea that I should come up to lead our District for the next year to keep the continuity of the work we were doing. The district conference of Jagdish ‘DISHARI’93’ was hosted by Rotaract Club of Burdwan, 29th to 31st December 1993, I was the Conference Chairman where I was elected our DRR for the year 1994-95. I joined Rotaract movement in the year 1987-88 and I held most the post at the club level including President ship. Training for all the DRR Elect for the year 1994-95 was hosted at Agra in 22nd to 24th April 1994. That was an event where we were trained & groomed by experience Rotarians including Past RI Director & Past Governor of Sikkim Late Rtn Sudarshan Agarwal which helped us to run the year Imphal Visit successfully.

official visit to all the clubs before our District Conference. It was a great experience for me & my wife Kiran visiting different clubs, the love and affections we have Tezpur Visit received from all the Rotaractors of our District is the treasure with me which I am cherishing till now and will be doing so till my last breadth. Rotaract Club of Bolpur Santiniketan was the host for our District Conference ‘PUNASCHA’ which was held from 10th to 12th February 1995 at Dreamland Resort, Bolpur. PDRR Saptarshi Das was the then host club President. This conference was well attended by members from most of the clubs at that time. Rtr Tuhin Choudhury was elected as our DRR for the year 199697 at Bolpur. During our times there was no computer, email, internet connectivity or mobile connections. Talking was mainly with landline telephones. Mode of communication was dependent mainly on postal/courier service. After sending a letter one has to wait for minimum 2 to 3 weeks to get any reply. However, we were accustomed to that culture. Hand written letters or letter written by type writer used to be exchanged.

I don’t know how successful was my year as DRR, Rotaractors of that time will be able to better evaluate but personally I am a satisfied person having tried and given my best considering the situation. I had a very dedicated District team everyone gave their best, my special I was fortunate to have PDG Rtn Jugal Kishore Somani thanks to our then District Secretary Rtr. Amarnath Praas my DG, PDG Rtn Samir Kumar Choudhury as my sad who was with me at each & every moment including DRCC and Rtr Sunil Agarwal of Guwahati South as our the club visits. Advisor to the Council. I got married in June’94 and took over the charge of our district as DRR in July’94. During Finally, the year came to an end and I was happy to one of our District event I was asked which one will be hand over the charge of our District to a very able leader my priority – married life or DRR ship, my answer was Kumar Chatterjee, the ceremony took place at Guwahati that my marriage was finalized in April’94 but I was in July 1995. elected as DRR in December’93 hence whenever any situation demands my priority will definitely be the DRR ship of our District as Rotaract was my first love. Theme for the year was ‘DEVELOP THOUGH ROTARACT’ There were 25 clubs in our District, area ranging from Asansol to Mokokchung. I was able to complete

Being a DRR you have to be involved with so many people from different sections of our society along with different avenues of services as per the Rotaract guidelines. So it becomes a tough job to point out best memory. However, I will mention top 3 memories without any order of sequence.

In 1st week of January’95 Rotary District Conference was organized at Bolpur, first time I was fortunate to hear the deliberations rare Rotary Leaders in every session of the Conference including PRIP Rtn Raja Saboo. Every session enriched me with new Rotary ideas.

From 19th to 22nd January 1995, a multi-district convention ‘VIBRATIONS’ was organized by RI Dist.: 3140 at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai. During our DRR training meet in April’94 we DRRs of different district of South Asia first time got introduced to each other but here in Mumbai it was a gathering of Rotaractors from all over India & few neighboring countries we really got the flavor of inter district/international friendship & fellowship, the bonding which was created that time is still going strong. The meeting was graced by many stalwarts from Rotary as well as personalities like Salman Khan, George Fernandes etc…

In February’95 our Rotaract District Conference was hosted at Bolpur. PDRR Saptarshi Das was the host club President. After visiting all the clubs during official visit again meeting Rotaractors at one place for 3 days is one of the most memorable event which created an extra ordinary bonding amongst the delegates. Everyone gave their best, everyone wanted the conference to be memorable. With whole hearted participation the conference ended on a happy note but I could not stop withholding my tears during the concluding session sharing my experience & journey till that date. Love and affection of all those present during the occasion is my asset which I am holding till date in the safe deposit locker of my heart.

“Renew the Spirit of Rotaract” – Dedication, Determination and Discipline The above theme is appropriate not only for a particular Rotary year but all throughout our life. With dedication, determination and disciple we can even move mountains. Jesse Owens said: “We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, selfdiscipline, and effort.” Similarly with dedication, determination and discipline our year strived to Renew the Spirt of Rotaract – the spirit of fellowship and service”

I still cherish all the memories associated with me being the DRR of RI District 3240. The friendship and fellowship developed and still continuing with Rotaractors not only of our District but also of other Districts. I remember the event of attending the Rotaract District Conference of RI District 3262, Odisha. We, myself exRotaractors Umesh Sharma and Satyaki Roy (RID 3290) boarded the train for Bhubaneswar from Kolkata and reached Cuttack station at the wee hours next day. To our utter surprise and pleasure members from the conference reception team were at the railway station waiting to welcome and receive us. During those three days of the conference we developed some very close friendship with club members from RC Cuttack which

District Conference 1995-96

Though there are many stories of the year 1995-96 during my tenure as the DRR of RI District 3240, I would positively rate the event of the District Conference held at Tezpur as one of the highlights of that year. Prior to this District Conference, when the bidding for the District Conference was being held at Burdhwan, initially there was no club which was willing to bid for the District Conference to be held during my tenure. As we, the DS elect, my team and I, were contemplating what would be our next move and how would we manage to have the District Conference, few of my friends from RC Tezpur came forward and announced that they would be hosting the District Conference during my tenure as the DRR. A bid relief and once more confirming the fact that the fellowship that is the base of this movement is strong enough to sail through all storms. The District Conference took place as per plan and in short left many spellbound by the organizing capabilities of Rotaractors from Tezpur. Kudos to District Conference Chairman PDRR Nilesh and his team.

has become stronger with the passage of time. The day we were to return, few Rotaractor friends came to see us off. It seemed that family members were parting. None could make out that these individuals were strangers even four nights ago. With moist eyes and trembling lips we bid farewell promising to be in touch and meet again. As destiny would make it, I am now posted at Bhubaneswar for last five years and whenever I pass through those roads of Cuttack the memories still flood me with nostalgia and love. This is the power of love and friendship. As they say “Without friends no one would choose to live, tough he had all other goods

PDRR Tuhin Kumar Chaudhury DRR 1996-97

I enjoyed my tenure as DRR a lot. All the Rotaractors, Presidents, PDRRs were very active and cooperative. The District Council members were also very enthusiastic. I remember my visit to mokokchung. When I reached, encounter started with terrorists. I ran and lied in a dry drain. After some time the President came and escaped me. I remember the project visit at Dimapur where I found a friend of mine teaching in a school there. In Imphal, the DRR visit was very thrilling as there was threat of terrorist attack. On my way back from Tinsukia visit by bus , in the middle of night Army men stopped the busand opened all our luggage in the road and checked. Every club has worked very well, organised projects and also organised the DRR visit in the perfect manner. The District Conference at Gangtok was a remarkable one. It was organised at TNA . A very beautiful School . There was very cold in the month of January. The conference was very nicely organised by two clubs i.e Gangtok and Siliguri. Every aspect of Conference

was above expectation. Every month District News letter was published and sent to every club. The Directory was published and distributed before I took charge as DRR. The Rotarians in the District and in my sponsoring club was very cooperative. I remember breakfast at PDG Kirtidas House and PDG NN Dutta, PDG Prabhat Kedia, PDG Salil Duttas house. I am not able to recall other names and incidents during my tenure as it is about 23 years ago. In a nutshell, I enjoyed my tenure as DRR very much and truly speaking I miss those days.

My Dear Rotaractors, "Will power is the Supreme power". ‘Will' is related to a goal to reach. Goal could be in different spheres like in your business and profession, in your family life, in larger sphere of the country. you must have a plan for the future, similarly you must have a goal in your Rotaract life. If you want to reach your Goal, you must have dedication, sincerity, devotion and above all Coordination.

This particular word Coordination is a key word in modern management system as well as in your daily life. Stating Simply, if you want to do anything you must have proper coordination to link the programme with the task. Coordination results from effective planning, policy making and manpower planning which implies the pre vention of both duplication and overlapping so as to avoid administrative wastes of efforts man power and resources. Co-ordinate to pull resources and experiences in dealing with problems in achieving the goal. Coordinattion is to facilitate better performance and greater ad ministrative efficiency in the execution of programme of the Rotaract club. To ensure efficient and economic functioning of club co-ordination is not only desirable but also essential. It is the centripetal force in club adminis tradition where the central purpose of the club is known understood and considered to be worthy by the members Coordinate to bind their seperate efforts into a common endeavour. Coordinate with

other agencies, departments to reach the common goal of the community, because resources are limited. An effective approach & strategies requires the co-ordinated efforts of sectors, & agencies that can contribute directly or indirectly to the promotion of social welfare. Such co -ordinated efforts would promote social welfare measures that will be efficient & effective from both the standpoint of the providers as well as beneficiaries. So friends, let us proceed with co-ordinated efforts to strive for perfection and to reach for a better tomorrow where polio, drug abuse, communal riots, corruption, Juvenile delinquency, crime, dishonesty, illiteracy will be things of the past and we will be moving towards that society where evil forces that alienate man from man, and man form his own self will be overcome. My dear fellow Rotaractors,

no question of replacing it with 'Boast'.

"Each soul is potentially divine'. Aim at realisation of the inherent potential which is present in all of us by virtue of human birth. Each of us has a bud within us, utilise Rotaract to let it 'bloom' and 'blossom'. Shower fragrance in your community. Bring smile & sunshine into lives of those who have seen only sorrow and darkness.

Friends let us 'arise & awake' so that we reach for a better tomorrow. A tomorrow where children will not be crippled by Polio, drug abuse and juvenile delinquency will be out dated, a world where man has learned to live in harmony with his environment where every person has an honest means of earning a living and there are no barriers that divide Man from Man. Let us dream and strive for a world wide nation.

Bloom and help others bloom in the world around you. Utilise opportunities provided by Rotaract to further your knowledge and increase your interaction with other business and professions Help people to choose career and be gainfully employed.

Harmonise Rotaract into your daily routine, into your lives. For this you need to take up meaningful projects at the club level which will facilitate the harmony. This is the only solution to the dichotomy we so often face between Rotaract activities and our other responsibilities. To be candid supplement your profession Vocation Career / studies with Rotaract rather than supplant it/them. The self development - District Project is aimed at this. Its success depends on our sincerity and dedication towards its organisation.

It will be a much cherised tomorrow - a world where you and I & our children will live. You can bring in that future. So BLOOM! BLOSSOM ! BASK !!! and dare to dream and follow your dreams.

Before I call it a day I express my sincere gratitude to advisor District Publication Committee Rtr. Soumitra Roy, Publication Committee Chairperson , Rtr. Horizon is the line where the earth and the sky seem to meet. It always recedes further and further away as one proceeds towards it with an expectant but triumphant spirit. We all know that the true concept of 'tomorrow' is over elu sive. Tomorrow is never dawn with the silky milky rays of the sun. In the same way, horizon is also ever beyond the footsteps of man who says only in vain:" I am the monarch of all I survey." Still man resolves to touch the horizon. In every sphere of life horizon is almost beyond our vision since today's world strides fast. What we visualize need to be materialised for the smile and welfare of all around us.

“Lead Rotaract to make leaders” “Lead Rotaract to make leaders”.This was the official theme for the year 2000-2001 when I had the opportunity to serve the district as the DRR of RID 3240. In the year 1994,in the month of August,I was inducted as a Rotaractor of Rotaract club of Tezpur introduced by Late Rotaractor Sanjeev Dev Barman. That day onwards,my journey with Rotary started and is going on till now.Presently,I am serving as the President of the Prestigious Rotary Club of Guwahati for the year 20202021. As a Rotaractor,I served the district in various capacities such as District Publication Committee Chairman, District Coordinator for Community Service etc. and as DRR for the year 2000-2001. Significantly,in the district conference titled ‘Prateek’ hosted by Rotaract Club of Siliguri and Rotaract Club of Gangtok, I was awarded the title ‘King of the Conference’. The most memorable incident in my Rotaract journey is the election for DRRship because the existing District Governor Rtn. Subhasish Chatterjee lost the election to me by 1 vote and I was elected as the DRR for 20002001. I’m really thankful for the efforts taken by the Rotaractors of Rotaract Club of Dharmanagar to publish our eventful journey and cherish the memories.I wish all my good wishes and blessings to all the Rotaractors of Rotaract Club of Dharmanagar.

Thank you once again. Rtn. Debajit Goswami DRR (2000-2001) President,RC Guwahati(2020-2021)”

"TOGETHER WE SERVE Together, we can show the World that a better future is possible any where and everywhere, and that generosity of spirit, tolerance for differences, and high moral values are not obstacles to success but the pathway to success. Rotaractors have that zeal and spirit to do something unique and this can only be done by 'togetherness'. We have seen that one stick can be broken easily but a bunch of sticks together cannot be broken. So 'togetherness' is a great virtue. We are working to make the World a better, healthier & safer place. I believe strongly that the Rotaractors must be motivated in our choice of service in much more practical & necessary manner than by our emotions.

Together we will lead the way to greater success & together we will continue to identify real needs, work with communities & the institute tions and see that actual needs are addressed in a practicable way. We cannot do it alone however. Very often we can accomplish more for our communities by working together with neighbouring places with our organizations that share our ideals & goals. Rtn. Dipankar Bose

THEME DESCRIPTION: REVOLIZE & SUSTAIN

2011-12 HISTORY IS THE WITNESS THAT BEHIND EVERY WIDE SPREAD CHANGE THERE IS A REVOLUTION. ROTARACT MOVEMENT IS AT SUCH A JUNCTURE THAT THE ONLY CURE SEEMS TO BE A WIDE SPREAD CHANGE THAT IS A REVOLUTION. REVOLUTION DOES NOT ONLY MEAN TO UP ROOT THE PRESENT SYSTEM BUT TO IMPROVE THE PRESENT SYSTEM BY A CHANGE IN PERCEPTION, CHANGE IN ATTITUDE TOWARDS ROTARACT MOVEMENT. BE A REBEL IN A POSITIVE SENSE. IMPROVING THE STRENGTH OF YOUR CLUB & THEN THE DISTRICT. THERE IS NO DUST OF YOUNG ACTIVE PEOPLE TO BECOME A ROTARACTOR BUT THE SCARCITY IS OF PICKING THEM UP, NURTURING THEM TO BE THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW.

ITS VERY EASY TO REACH AT THE TOP BUT ITS VERY DIFFICULT TO REMAIN THERE FOR LONG. INCREASING THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS AND ACTIVITIES IN A CLUB IS NOT A GREATER TASK THAN TO SUSTAIN THE PRESENT MEMBERS AND THE ACTIVITIES OF THE CLUB .THERE FORE OUR EFFORT SHUOLD NOT ONLY BE TO GROW… IT SHUOLD BT TO REVOLIZE AND SUSTAIN…. Rtn. Ankit Agarwal DRR 2011-12

Best memroy of being the DRR . 1.

When I was on my official visit to Tezpur , I visited Kaziranga with few Rotaract friends and while returning we met an accident unfortunately. As we reached back to Tezpur, at the entrance of the town there were around 20+ Rotarions & Rotaractors to receive us and all kind of medical arrangements were done ..(though this incident is not directly related to Rotaract , but this is the best memroy of my DRR ship)

2.

The day my conference was inaugurated in my home town ,and I got to see my dad being felicitated as DRRs father , that is the best moment of my DRR ship

PDRR Arunava Ghosh DRR 2014-15

‘Insistence and Persistence’ are two nouns which go hand in hand, even though both have different meaning altogether. In the life of a rotaractor, these two words must take a significant place. These are the qualities which differentiates a Rotaractor from a normal guy. It’s our insistence to serve the community and our persistence to continue, makes us a rotaractor for a life time. An old man once said “Erasers are made for those, who make MISTAKES” to which a rotaractor replied “Erasers are made for those, who are willing to correct their MISTAKES”. It’s our attitude which makes us a Rotaractor. Fall of 2005, I got the chance to join this movement called Rotaract. It was PDRR Saurav Debroy, who roped me in this madness of Rotaract. People say, there’s madness in “Bhakti” of the Almighty, I say there’s frenzy and rage in serving the mankind. Rotaract, is the 2nd best thing which has happened in my life after I was born. The scope to develop oneself is its best and unique part. And this has been felt by me at every step of my life. Whatever I’m today, I attribute this to Rotaract primarily. I was lucky, as just after joining, I was able to attend the District Conference “ Lakshya” at Silchar.Though all seemed “Greek” to me, but the orderliness of Rotaract already started to take a toll in my life by then. I was the charter president of RAC Hailakandi and Rtr Shankar Choudhury was the secretary. Two different personalities we were, but united for a common cause of serving the society. He was with me in this Rotaract journey till the last day in all ups and downs. I remember, there were times when it was only me and him who attended and represented Hailakandi in many District Conferences.

Frankly speaking, I never fantasized of being a DRR ever. I always thought, I was never made for this. Primarily because I always have a very hectic business schedule. The hot seat of DRR asks for time and commitment for which I was not mentally prepared or perhaps I was afraid too. I still remember, it was the tenure of my friend PDRR Abhishek Jitani. I was at Guwahati airport returning from Delhi and Abhishek was returning from his DRR visit. We both met at the airport and boarded a bus to Guwahati City. “You should think of becoming the DRR” was all he said suddenly. Abhishek is always a prankstar, but that time I felt he was serious about it. I called up my friends PDRR Saurav Debroy, Vijay Sharma, Diptendu Mustafee, Temsusenla Jamir, Saurav Bajoria and all seemed happy about it. I remember, Vijay told me buddy just see whether you can balance between your business and DRRship. If the answer is a YES, go for it. Indeed YES was the answer and I took the challenge.

The time finally came and I found another hardcore and dedicated rotaractor Rajib Sarkar from RAC Durgapur who also filed nomination for the same. His contribution for Rotaract was unparallel and he was also a very able contestant for the post of DRR. I used to call up Saurav Debroy every single night and ask for his guidance, which he always gave. The day came, 6th of January 2013 and it was ‘MORUNG INFUSION RETURNS’ , the district conference at Dimapur , I was elected as the ‘Silver DRR’ of Rotary International District 3240. Actually I was unaware that it was the 25th Year of District 3240. When PDRR Saurav Bajoria announced that, I felt an extra load on the

shoulders.

Big responsibility and big celebration year for D3240. June 30th, 2014, I took charge from then DRR Saurav Debroy in the installation ceremony at Hailakandi. My district Conference team members Aashirwad and Rishav were also present at Hailakandi that day, DRR elect late Amalendu Tewari and even my counterpart during election, Rajib Sarkar, also came down to Hailakandi to congratulate me. That’s the beauty of Rotaract. That whole night we all discussed how to make the 25th District conference ‘ SILVER FIESTA’ a conference of lifetime. I was very lucky as I got one of the most active clubs and a set of dedicated rotaractors, to host my conference. And they indeed proved they are the best. I started working with the mantra “ AIM, BUILD, CHANGE” , AIM to serve, BUILD to prepare and CHANGE the society to build a better community. The concept of my District theme was given by my fellow club member Rtr. Pritam Paul and the design was done by another Rtr.Ajay Das.

My tour as a DRR of the District started on August 2014 from Zone 1. I started from Gtr. Raniganj and ended my tour at Bolpur. Being a DRR has its own perks, DRR visit to various clubs being one of them. You meet new people, visit new places and bring back memories which you cherish for life. At Raniganj, I stayed with my very close friend Rtr Ranjit Singh. He never let me feel I was away from home for a single moment. I remember, Ranjit took me to a restaurant and made me taste a famous chicken 65 platter of Raniganj. Trust me till today also whenever we talk, the discussion of that dish comes up. During my Zone 1 visit, RAC Raniganj hosted the first Zonal Meet of the 25th Year and finally after a 10 day long tour I was back at my hometown. The geographical area of D3240 is so huge, that it’s a challenge for every DRR to complete it in time. My 2nd leg of DRR journey started with visits of Zone 4 and 5 and the last leg comprised of the other Zones of our District. Even though I was busy visiting all the clubs, my primary focus remained in spreading rotaract to areas where Rotaract never stepped in and also to revive and rejuvenate those clubs, which went to hibernation. In this course 13 clubs came up including new and revived. The membership strength doubled in span of 7 months. Another big challenge for me was to arrange for a grand celebration in the 25th year, like never before. It was decided that Silver Fiesta would be hosted by RAC Bolpur Shantiniketan at Hotel Kharimati, a plush property in the outskirts of Bolpur, West Bengal. The silver jubilee conference started on 30th January 2015 and ended on 1st February 2015. More than 200 delegates attended the conference and took back memories for

life. The conference team of Aashirwad Ghosh, Rishav Agarwal, Ashwini Malpani,Reshmin Hossain, Nilanjana Das and others created the magic. I shall remember those days for the rest of my life and so will the rotaractors. I also got a special gift from the charter DRR late Navin Bhaiyyan at that conference. He gifted me a silver 100 rupee note and trust me, that was one of the most precious gift of my life. Late DRR Amalendu Tiwari hosted his assembly at Silver Fiesta and another dynamic rotaractor Pawan Sharma was selected as the DRR nominee. Pages will fall less if I keep recalling my rotaract memories. June 30th 2015, I handed over the charge to late Amalendu Tewari . Two rotaract giants left us for good, PDRR Navin Jain and PDRR Amalendu Tewari. The vacancy that they created can’t be fulfilled ever.

My dear rotaractors, Rotaract is an emotion for me and I’m sure for all of you too. We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future….says Franklin Roosevelt. Rotaract is such a place where we have the scope to develop ourselves in all aspects and build ourselves for the future. My young guns of D3240, once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results. Weak people say “WHY ME” and a Rotaractor says “TRY ME”.

So lets perform, not for you not for me but for this holy movement called ‘ROTARACT’.

PDRR Rtn. Pawan Sharma DRR 2016-17

The Entire idea of the District theme for the year 20162017 was developed in my mind by being a root level rotaractor of R.I. Dist. 3240 for six beautiful years. The Theme of Rotary International District 3240 is from Rotary Interna tional District 3240. DREAM Rotaractors being young aspiring & talented are nothing less than a dreamer with fresh goals in life. And i believe before starting and setting up any thing we must all dream for it.. ACT Act is for actions. It is very much important in life to always set ready for actions, only dreaming will not reach us to our goal but our actions by working towards it will definitely do.

SUSTAIN Sustain is for sustainability, "Dreams converts into action's actions to Success" but sucess is not easily sustainable. Whatever we achieve in life must be sustained to gain excellence. HOPE After all the hardwork put forward by us, The last thing that we all do is hope. Hope for all good, Hope for all betterment DREAMS are nothing without ACTIONS, ACTIONS are not worthy till they are SUSTAINED till the excellence and at last it is the Ray of HOPE we all look for. That is how we DREAM - ACT - SUSTAIN & HOPE to achieve excellence

INNOVATE & RETAIN "Changes call for innovation, and innovation leads to progress" - Li Keqiang The above quite infers that, it is through innovation that we can flourish; and to innovate a little more than what has already been established is a vital requirement in today's world, where the only thing constant is change. Having said this, we need to adopt the path to it, which is to 'retain' - to retain the past, the present and the future; to retain the purpose; to retain the existence, and above all in the entire process, to retain humanity. In the present scenario of Rotaract in Rotary International Dis trict 3240, 'innovation and retention' should be the basic motto. The Rotaractors are meant to be innovative and to maintain their reten tion in the Rotaract eternity and thereby, thrive to shape up the movement to prosperity. And as, Steve Jobs rightly said "Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower", so let us create uniqueness, that differentiates us-'the Rotaractors' from the mass, by being retentive to Rotaract.

"Time flies over us, but leaves the shadow behind" - Nathaniel Hawthorne

True lines indeed, time flies quick though it moves slow. And who would not love to go for a time travel either to the past or to the future. I would like to whole heartedly thank Rotaract Club of Dharmanagar for taking up an initiative for a Time Travel to my DRRship days - Rotary Year 2018-19! Excellent and innovative name for the E Magazine -'Rota-Rath, Time travel in PDRR's Chariot'... As always, I feel extremly elated that RAC Dharmanagar has once again come up with a unique idea of remembering the past days of Rotaract in RID 3240 during the DRRships of the past leaders. I would take the opportunity to congratulate the Chartered President, Rtr Sandip Das for being the Chairperson of this very project and a special thanks to the President Rtr Ananya Bhattacharya for taking up this initiative. And my best wishes to the Editor Rtr Debaditya for editing this special edition.

Regarding my tenure as the DRR of the prestigious District, I have already shared the pictures and captions of all the important events - from District Assembly to Handing over the collar. Summing up, I would just like to ardently thank my District Council and the Rotarators of RID 3240 for believing in me that I could be their capable leader, and the amount of love and respect which I still receive is immense, for which I shall be always grateful. I can't thank enough the PDGs, PDRRs, my Sponsoring Rotary Club - RC Gauhati West, my Home Club - RAC Rongali Guwahati and other Rotarians for being a constant support. And a special gratitude to my DRCC and DG 2018-19 for being my pillars. In anticipation of moving out for a Time Travel and reading this E - Magazine soon... Love and Best Wishes...

As the theme of the tenure 2019 20 goes Rotaract Builds Strength, Gives us the vibe that individually we are a drop but together we are in ocean, Always remember strength lies in difference, not in similarities. One Rotaract, Two Rotaractor, Three Rotaractor . unlimited Rotaractors, all individually are a different humankind. But when we wear a strongest posture, gear up with our teamwork, collaborate and struggle through hardships, we show the strength of Rotaract though unity by deciding not to surrender and thus serving the society to make it a society of peace, without discrimination, a democratic society. Lets be ONE family, Rotaractors when they replace their I with Rotaractors all together We even "illness of Society becomes "wellness for the Society"

It feels good to check out your club works on various services of Rotaract throughout the year. I always believe in team work, where a group of people is executing a particular motto of "Fellowship through Service" in our Rotaract platform. Well starting from the nomination of my DRR ship in the year 2017-18, it was well versed that with various hurdles, i accepted things that was obvious as because without a competition for a chair is like ice cream without a cherry, but when it is served with a cherry, the ice cream looks more beautiful and to taste nothing more than a delicious.

G.C. College Silchar. It was for the first time in 3240 to happen two district events at a same place, many many thanks to the Clubs for initiating such events. District 3240 has initiated some landmarks district projects like Membership Seminar, Literacy Growth and 2 Happy Schools, Installation of Sanitary Pad Machines, Polio plus projects etc. Overall the membership growth of District 3240 is 1422 as of count till March 2020 by Reviving and opening of New Clubs. The District Council of 2019-20 has adopted a service projects for Celebrating International Women's day "Shakti"Self defence Workshop where it has been recognised as Happy Moment Appreciation by RSAMDIO to Rotaract Club of Dharmanagar. The events was succesfully conducted by many Clubs. I always praise the Club Presidents of 2019-20 long with their team to successfully completed their term in grand way. You guys will always be remembered. See Rotaractors, there are lots of things to share about the term 201920, but it cant be done in message. Well thats all my dear friends. We are in a verge of fighting COVID-19. Stay safe and protected.

As of now, a DRRship is not served only for a year. It is served more than that. First as DRR (N) then DRR (E) and then as DRR in his serving term. Two and half years, well this is more than a DRR can thought of himself. I am emotionally pening down about this initiative took by the most Vibrant Club and ofcourse Best Club in first six months Rotaract Club of Dharmanagar. An initiative of show casing the best projects of each Club. Its just simply defines the promoting of District 3240, in what benchmark your hard work has provided in this term of 2019-20. District 3240 has completed its 29th Rotaract District Assembly hosted by Rotaract Club of Rongali Guwahati, 30th Rotaract District Installation cum District tour hosted by Rotaract Club of Malda Rtr. Deepjyoti Das Central, Zonal Meets, Multi District Service projects, IDYE, and ofcourse a benchmark of more DRR 2019-2020 than 200 rotaractors after many years the 30th Rotaract District Conference cum Assembly hosted by Rotaract Club of Silchar. One of my favourite and dream event was Rota Carnival hosted by three clubs of our District 3240Rotaract Club of Rongali Guwahati, Silchar and
