THE BUSINESS INCUBATOR
M.ARCH + 2, STUDIO PROJECT, SECOND SEMESTER, FALL ‘17.
LOCATION: BROADWAY, DOWNTOWN LA INSTRUCTOR: MARIO CIPRESSO
This project is an urban infill in downtown that required the developing of a satellite campus for The USC Marshall School of Business’ Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (CES) located in the Broadway Historic Theater and Commercial District of Downtown Los Angeles. The facility was to accommodate a variety of private educational activities while simultaneously engaging the local community through public programs and events. The building is envisioned as an incubator of interplay where professionals as well as the community gathers, engages, and participates through various levels of interlocking that happen at visual, physical and conceptual levels.
This project was part of a comprehensive design studio whereby structure, egress, mechanical and facade systems were developed in detail.
The interior space is envisoned as oppurtunity spaces for interation and are adaptable in nature so that it provides a platfrom for a series of interchangeable programs. The main spaces are connected using a cetral atrium as well as other interlockings that happen at a smaller level within spaces.

TRANSLATIONS
EXPLORING NEW CONVENTIONS OF 2D & 3D
STUDIO PROJECT, FALL ‘17. INSTRUCTOR: ANTHONY MOREY
The focus of this studio was to make us go through a creative yet extremly thoughtful excercise to give a new lens of looking at image and form and find our own set of rules and methods to create engaging peices of work that are very much workable solutions as well as a peices of art by the end of the day. The exploration had a very systematic and sequential way yet arbitrary in its nature when it came to exploring non-conventional forms. Dante’s text Divine Comedy became a starting point for the entire process. Below is a series of drawings based on a self-created rule set (a series of operations that gave me logic to work with) to translate linguistic text (pages from Purgatory, The Divine Comedy) to a drawing represented as a 2d. This drawing was created using a series of layered graphics by looking for a graphic composition in the page and the overall story.
PURGATORIO - DRAWING SERIES
An exploration of a 3d form that stems from the initial 2d drawings created, whereby the graphics are than translated into work of art that has an added dimensionality to it. The drawings were thickened to take a spatial shape by pulling the graphics and making them interact with each other. The 7 terraces of the purgatory each representing a vice and its repentance is expressed through the 8 quadrants that are formed after the 3 planes are intersected. Not only the composition is influenced but the character of the quadrants, form, elements are also somewhat influenced from the descriptions in the book.
HOUSING COMPLEX
MASTERPLAN AND PHYSICAL MODEL
A housing complex is created consisting of 3 housing typologies whose tectonic expression and form is derived from the elemnts created earlier, now given architecture qualities and human proportions.
HOUSE A
HOUSES CUT AT 34’
HOUSES CUT AT 48’
Truth and authenticity of construction are replaced with an ambiguous mixture of graphic and constructive realms. The realms existed in all aspects of the project, the terrain it sat on and became part of, its skin, its overall shape, and how it interacted with one other and the role the pattern and perforations played. What you get in the end is a combination of both familiar constructive elements as well as strange ones.
HOUSE B
HOUSE C
SECTIONAL MODEL RELIEF CHUNK Of HOUSE A One of the houses is sectionally cut and detailed out in terms of habitable spaces and floor plates. This is represented as a model in relief that has both 2d and 3d elements seemlessly merging into each other reading from far as a flat image but has visual and spatial depth as you get closer.

THE NEW MACHINE FOR LIVING
M.ARCH + 2, THESIS PROJECT, SPRING ‘18. LOCATION: UTOPIAN. GENERIC SITE INSTRUCTOR: WES JONES
Digital Urbanism and communication technologies are redefining human-environment relationship. This project aims to create hybrid typology spaces that best serve todays dwelling needs and provides a living solution that is not only efficient and highly flexible and adaptable but also affordable and sustainable. The aim is to create a living machine that can grow and expand with need and gives people control over their environment, space layout and building outlook.

M.ARCH + 2, THESIS PROJECT, FALL ‘17. LOCATION: OLVERA STREET, DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES INSTRUCTOR: ANDY KU
The experience of Olvera Street is representative of cultural homogenization and monotonous walk through a somewhat Disneyland and superficial depiction of Mexican culture. Inspired by the work of the situationists, this project aims to create architecture to intensify urban experience through clash and disjunction where the new building typology acts as the DERIVE and the spectacle (the attraction of which draws the people). The overall aim is to provide engagement opportunities to people and an interactive ground where people can come together and participate.
RE-ENVISONING
OF THE SHAHI MOHALLA DISTRICT
ACADEMIC PROJECT, 8TH SEMESTER LOCATION: SHAHI MOHALLA, INTERIOR LAHORE
Shahi Mohallah is an old historic center in Interior Lahore and this project aims to introduce new policies for the regeneration and development of the area along with urban interventions and the construction of a public building to improve the area for both the locals and the tourists.
E - CONNECT
Technology as a catalyst in architecture
ACADEMIC PROJECT, 7TH SEMESTER LOCATION: GENERIC
Mobile technologies, Internet access and social-media are becoming more and more empowering and fusing into everyday lives with a great impact on general social behavior and public space. This media technology is shifting interaction inward, away from less predictable public contacts. We are sacrificing conversation for mere connection and we expect more from technology and less from each other. This project aims to discover the possibilities of a new space by overlapping the physical space and cyberspace and form a new understanding of a new experience phenomenon. To overlap technology into the physical domain in a way that it promotes social connectedness and acts as a social catalyst.
SOCIAL CONDENSOR
NEW ORDER OF THE THIRD SPACE
B.ARCH, THESIS PROJECT, 2015 LOCATION: F-10, ISLAMABAD INSTRUCTOR: QASIM IBRAHIM In an increasing network society, the physical Public Realm or Third Space as we can see is diminishing to a mere blur in its surrounding context. Public life has succumbed to closed blocks & surveilled societies which result in pervasive alienation from the physical present of the individual as well as of people from each other. As opposed to nostalgic attempts to restore continuity of streets and plazas to connect people and create pockets of spontaneous interactions, this projects aims to create a new kind of third space, a physical domain by uniting the immediate and the people, potentially by architecture becoming itself an interactive medium connecting the inhabitants with all their surrounding spaces. This new contemporary order of the third space will be a realm that becomes an urban playground providing a dynamic environment in which disconnected citizens of Islamabad have the opportunity to interact and to be engaged.

RECIPROCAL FRAME GEODESIC DOME
B.ARCH, BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECT, 2013 GROUP WORK DURATION: 2 WEEKS INSTRUCTOR: ZAHID USMAN
For this project the class was divided into 5 groups, and each was assigned a different shaped module to study the various kinds of reciprocal frame structures. The project included design research, presentation of mechanics and structure, study models and experimentation and finally the construction of the finalized model.
