4.4. Pile Cap Design

A pile cap that connects the main entrance column, ground beams and piles at a single point was designed. The design calculations are presented in Technical Report 9 – Pile Cap Design.

• The pile cap was designed to be made from C32/40 concrete.

• The pile cap breadth is 1.55 meters, length is 1.55 meters and depth is 0.60 meters.

• The pile cap reinforcement is the same for transverse and longitudinal directions. It consists of seven 16 mm diameter bars at the top of the cap and seven 17 mm diameter bars at the bottom of the cap. The cover to the reinforcement is specified as 40 mm.
