I started Quickregister.net as a free search engine submission service years ago. I simply asked people to link back to me in exchange for using the service for free. I provided the linking and banner codes to make it easy for them. Hundreds linked back to me. Now the site is a article, directory and social bookmark semi-automatic submission service. I still ask people to link to me. I also do so on my free classified ads site. I have also set up several link and article directories where people can place their free links and articles on my directories in exchange for a link back to my site. On some of the directories I require a link back and on other I just ask for a link back in exchange for using the service.
