“IT’S THE DEGREE of commitment that differentiates these women,” says Martha Vietor Glass, President of the Administrative Board of The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.“When you join, you aren’t joining a party. You have to come to monthly meetings, you have to serve on a committee— you’re financially obligated. You’re smart and you’re interested, and it’s like a family. I’m really impressed by that.” The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering supports cutting-edge research in several ways, including through The Society Research Grants Program, which provides early seed funding for innovative clinical and translational research by the Junior Investigators. Since 2007, The Society has funded 54 grants.
