ASHLEY HUTTON GROUP Consisting of 3rd Year Jazz Performance students, the Ashley Hutton Group will be performing the compositions by Sonny Rollins, Thelonius Monk, Charlie Parker, and Victor Young. Praised by his peers for his exciting and dynamically intense style of improvisation, Ashley Hutton is an emerging saxophonist making his home on the Australian music stage. Throughout his young career, he’s shared the stage with award-winning bands Tower of Power and Melbourne Ska Orchestra. As a sideman and session player, Ashley has worked with Brisbane based originals projects Cheap Fakes, Juno, Kiore, Kayne Missen and the Young Americans, Ruby Jo Band and Saul Harvey performing at venues such as Caloundra Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival among other venues in Queensland and New South Wales. Ashley is currently in his 3rd year of studying under industry-leading musicians and educators James Sandon, Jeff Reid and Dr Steve Newcomb at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in jazz performance. Band Members: Ashley Hutton - Tenor Saxophone Ben Oldham - Trumpet Theo Parrott - Piano Bernie Morgan - Bass Grace King – Drum ELIZABETH WENTZ QUINTET Elizabeth Wentz, has showcased her talent touring through North Queensland, leading the Queensland Youth Orchestra Big Band and regularly performing at many local venues including the Brisbane Jazz Club, Toowoomba Jazz Society, The West-room and many more. Singing and performing from the moment she could speak; Elizabeth is a highly experienced and versatile musician. Currently completing her final year at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, where she has been tutored by many of the esteemed faculty including, Irene Bartlett, Kristin Berardi, Zac Bradford and Dave Spicer. She continues to cultivate her passion for Jazz by working and collaborating with her peers and pedagogues. With her Quartet, she brings to the stage a collection of her favourite standards inspired by artists such as, Sarah Vaughan, Blossom Dearie, Veronica Swift and many more swingers that will be sure to have your toes tapping. Band Members: Elizabeth Wents - Vocals Theo Parrott - Piano Grace King - Drums Jono Fraser - Bass Josh O'Byrne - Tenor Saxophone SIMPATICO Obsessed with all genres of music since the age of 9, Atticus Shipstone has been playing the trumpet for over 10 years. Appearing regularly at the Brisbane Jazz Club and Newstead House jazz Sundays as part of Talking Jazz Big Band under the mentorship of Dan Hirsch & Euan Cumming, Atticus is no stranger to the local jazz scene. Atticus has also been fortunate to study with some of Brisbane’s renowned trumpet legends - Dan Quigley at JMI and John Hoffman through the SHEP and MOST music programs. Atticus is currently studying a Bachelor of music (jazz performance) at the Queensland Conservatorium and one day (COVID permitting) hopes to take New York for a spin!
