are Here to Stay After spending most of our time indoors for the past two years, it is natural to feel the urge to head out for a change in scenery. While we can finally travel overseas again, we’ve also seen a new tourism trend take the world by storm, one that has remained a go-to preference for those who have the travel bug. Staycations! The no-fuss, low-cost way to holiday is upon us, and we believe that it’s here to stay. Whether you plan to spend a week of holiday at home, explore your neighbourhood, or head out of town for a few days, staycations are amazing because of the flexibility they offer. These little holidays are ideal for travellers and hospitality providers alike, as they give rise to many domestic travel players from roadside bakers to boutique properties by the beach. So how can you be a tourist in your own city? Easy! Just start thinking and acting like one. Here are five simple ways to enjoy staycations.

• Have a no-call day Would you spend all day answering calls, emails, and chats if you’re on holiday? Whether you’re having a staycation at home or around your neighbourhood, pledge to use your phone only to take pictures! Keep work away – of course, make arrangements beforehand – and have your callers leave a message at the beep.

11 • Visit the spa on your first day What better way to tell your body, mind, and soul that you’re on relax-mode than to start the holiday with a good massage? Pick a couple’s package or a solo one, whichever works for you, and make sure you don’t have any other item on the agenda afterwards.

• Make your home hotel-like Got white sheets? Put them on the bed. Prepare pitchers of cool infused water with your favourite fruits just like in a hotel. And why not eat your lunch on your balcony or patio, or even go to the nearby park for a picnic, rather than in front of the TV or your laptop?

• Visit new places Haven’t checked out that comic book store? What about that art gallery? Or that small bakery behind the church? It’s time to start exploring, so have an open mind (and use a bicycle if you’re not a fan of searching for parking spots).

• Plan out a short-distance holiday Take a chance to fall in love with domestic travel. Go out of town and take that well-deserved break! Opt for a Breaks package from QVI Breaks and embark on that perfect short getaway.

SkincareforYour

20s, 30s, &Beyond Our skin is constantly evolving and ageing along with us. So, changing your skincare routine accordingly is essential to maintaining its health. Check out these tips for age-appropriate skincare:

In your 20s You’re transitioning to adulthood, though your skin might still be clinging to those teen years. It’s never too early to start prepping your skin for the decades to come, so nourish it and protect it from the sun. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, and eat more skin-nourishing food like carrots, berries, and nuts. Cleanse your face every night and never ever go to bed with makeup still on.

13 In your 30s You might start noticing the onset of premature ageing like fine lines, wrinkles, and some dullness, so start investing in a good skincare routine. Retinols remove dead skin cells, neutralise free radicals, and boost collagen production, so maintain a diet rich in them. While you’re at it, drink lots of water and exercise at least 30 minutes daily. Start using eye cream (your eyes give away your age), and remember that whatever you do to your face, you should continue down to your neck.

In your 40s

In your 50s

There’s no more denying that your skin is changing. Dryness sets in because the tiny oil producers that keep the skin lubricated aren’t working as well as before. Hyaluronic acid can help hydrate and give structure to your skin. Faithfully follow a routine to protect, recover, and nourish your skin. Don’t forget to moisturise, and if you have severe pigmentation, use sunblock for extra protection.

Your skin and changes in hormone levels might start reacting in strange ways. Opt for skincare products with retinoids to help reduce wrinkles, stimulate the production of new blood vessels, and minimise rough patches. Switch to a gentle foaming cleanser, be mindful of skin reactions to makeup, and choose products that are meant for your age.

Reasons You’re Not Losing Extra Pounds

Isn’t it frustrating when your weight doesn’t seem to budge even though you’ve been working out more, eating less, and trying all sorts of diets? While weight loss may come naturally to those blessed with good metabolism, it can be a painful, slow process for others. Often, the frustration of not losing weight takes over, and we throw away our weight loss goals for sanity. The truth is anyone can lose weight. The solution lies in knowing your body inside out: what works, what doesn’t, and what needs a little help.

Here are seven reasons why you’re not losing as much weight as you wish.

1

Fatty genes

Although the nature vs nurture argument is strong, there is no denying that your genes impact your metabolism – 70% of our body weight variation is linked to genetic factors. But there’s a way around it. Consume hormone-controlling herbs, fruits, and natural drinks such as green tea that you can easily add to your diet.

15 2

Gut feeling

Gut bacteria can make or break your weight loss journey by fluctuating your hunger hormones. So, consume food that promotes good gut bacteria like whole grains, bananas, onions, garlic, and yoghurt. 3

Plates and portions

How little is your little? With restaurants increasing serving sizes, controlling your food intake becomes tougher. Using a natural plant-based, appetite-control formula like Belite 2 helps curb your hunger naturally by reducing the hunger hormone ghrelin. 4

Stress eating

You might think there’s no better feeling than devouring comfort foods when you’re stressed. Yet, mindless eating in front of the TV quickly leads to over-eating, which then adds to the stress. Put mind over matter here and opt for non-eating ways to manage your stress, like walking or a quick yoga session.

5

Intermittent…what?

Skipping meals won’t do you any good if you end up overeating. Intermittent fasting doesn’t mean starving yourself now to stuff your face with unhealthy food later. A weight management formula like Belite 123 can help you stick to proper mealtimes while controlling your appetite. 6

Low burn

Some of us burn fat slower than others, which means that a 30-minute run works very differently for different people. Study how your body works and be smart about clocking in those exercises. 7

Race against years

Age plays a dirty trick on our bodies. It reduces the rate of metabolism, meaning that losing weight needs more effort as we get older. Fight your ageing hormones with a natural beverage like Belite 1, made using green tea leaves containing epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a natural metabolism booster.

Know your body before embarking on a weight loss journey.

Want to help

save the planet? Start with some DIY to make your home eco-friendly

Whether you live in an apartment, a mansion or even a ranch, there are many ways to make your house more eco-friendly. While giving you self-satisfaction about reducing your carbon footprint and conserving the environment, maintaining a green home will help you greenspire others. Here are five easy DIY (do-it-yourself) tips to make your home eco-friendly:

1

Use only what you need

We consume excessive water every day – a 10-minute shower alone uses more than 60 litres. You don’t need to measure your water consumption: simply use only what you need. Don’t leave taps running unnecessarily, take showers instead of baths and be smart when doing your dishes: using a batch approach works instead of washing one by one.

2

Say no to single-use plastics

Having zero tolerance for single-use plastics is one of the most effective ways to go green. Instead, use refillable bottles and paper straws, or better yet, go straw-free. Reduce the number of nights you eat takeout, and, when you do, pick restaurants that deliver food in paper boxes. Finally, keep cloth bags in your car to ensure that you are always equipped, even for spontaneous shopping trips. Do you buy a lot of mineral water in plastic bottles? Opt for a more sustainable, nonelectric, cost-effective solution, like using a refillable container for your HomePure Nova, which converts regular tap water into safe drinking water enriched with minerals.

17 3

Energise smart

Going green is suitable for your wallet because the less energy you consume, the less you pay. Start by unplugging power sockets while not in use and switching to energy-efficient light bulbs. Install curtains where you have glass doors and windows – while glass is nice to have, it makes it doubly hard to cool your home if you live in a hot climate. As you progress in your green mission, invest in some solar panels for your roof – it might be costly at first, but the amount of electricity bills you save is for life. 4

Balance your carbon

Our lifestyles create a big carbon footprint, so reverse it by growing plants.

Whether you’re green-thumbed or a plant virgin, gardening is not rocket science. Grow plants and make it work for you — your herb garden, perhaps? Try adding flowering plants to attract bees. They are nature’s pollination army and vital to the ecosystem. 5

Prioritise your health

Maintaining an eco-friendly home means living a healthy, wholesome, and naturecentric life. This includes adding more water, fresh fruits and vegetables, and unprocessed food into your daily intake. Don’t forget the air you breathe – protect your lungs and lifestyle by ensuring that you breathe clean air. The HomePure Zayn 5-stage Air Purification System is a lowpower consuming, no-fuss filter system that purifies indoor air in your home.

Tuesdays now look like Saturdays, and pants are optional, right? Working from home has taken off the stress of picking clothes, ironing shirts, wearing heels (or any shoes at all), and putting on makeup. But while we may be a lot more comfortable, we might also start looking, and therefore feeling, less professional than we had pre-pandemic. Professional attire is not just about making an impression on our teammates and customers, but also about motivating ourselves to achieve goals. While our waist-up fashion experiments might look good in front of the bathroom mirror, they don’t necessarily reflect the same way on screen.

Get athleisure to work for you

You’re at home, but you want to look energised! Mix and match athletic wear and smart casual clothing, like a chic jacket over your t-shirt or a crop top underneath your cardigan.

19 Be colour conscious

Some colours work better on camera than others. Choose pale colours over overly bright ones so you bounce in as much light onto your face. Pale pinks, blues and greens, or an oversized white collar will give you a non-shiny glow.

No bad hair days, sorry How long has it been since you last used your hairdryer? No matter how convenient and refreshing it might be to step out of the shower and

into work, never attend a virtual meeting with dripping, wet hair. Towel dry your hair, comb it well, and do it up just like you would if you’re going to work outside.

Your hands matter

Your hand gestures always catch the eyes of your audience. So, having wellmanicured hands – with or without good nail polish – is critical.

WAYS TO MANAGE STRESS WHILE STUCK AT HOME

Home might seem less sweet when we have been stuck in it for over a year. While we may have mastered remote working, online shopping, and digital networking, prolonged isolation could also have a lasting, negative impact on our mental health. We put together a few tips to help you manage stress while stuck at home. Remember, you can’t do anything well if you don’t take care of your health! Self-care is not selfish; it is essential.

1

Re-purpose your living spaces

Now that you’re spending most of your time at home, some re-designing is needed. Designate a work area to avoid working everywhere. Have a technologyfree space with plants and scented candles where you can unwind. No phones allowed!

2

Eat mindfully

Healthy gut bacteria can relieve symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. While junk food may be comforting, it can also increase the risk for psychiatric distress, so opt for gut-friendly food like yoghurt, almonds, and berries instead.

TIP: Place your glass of water on the Amezcua Bio Disc 3 to energise its properties.

21 TIP : Take your self-care a step further and revitalise your mind with Amezcua Chi Pendant 4. 6

Practice guided meditation

Meditation to the mind is like oxygen to the body. Start with some guided meditation videos on YouTube – you may feel awkward at first, but soon this will be your go-to to unwind.

7 Sleep, to heal Sleep does amazing things to our bodies and minds, while sleep deprivation has proven to be a leading cause of depression and other mental ailments.

3

Sweat your stress away

Even a daily 30-minute workout at home can do wonders for your mental health. You’ll be saying goodbye to pounds and manage your challenges better in no time.

4

Balance routine and spontaneity

Adopt good sleeping habits: keep your phone away, read a book, and apply essentials oils like lavender or camomile to your temples to help your body relax.

Entrepreneurship has always been about taking risks, venturing into unknown pastures, and stepping out of the comfort zone. It is entrepreneurs who are addressing gaps in the market, solving issues consumers face, providing products that previously didn’t exist. Being an entrepreneur is fulfilling when you have succeeded in

becoming a problem solver, but it’s not an easy process. It requires facing uncertainty head-on and being willing to accept setbacks, defeat, and failure as part of the equation. Understanding

Power Within

the

Joseph “Japadas” Bismark

What makes us who we are? Is it our passion, our grit, our determination, or something else entirely? What makes up our character? As humans, we want to add value to our world. How can our presence inspire others and ignite global, societal change? We are all born with a purpose, and it is up to us to try our best every day. The only way we can grow is if we find our power within and fulfil our limitless potential.

31

Navigating Life, Goals, and Distractions “The foundation of success must also be the development of our character.”

This journey makes us better people. So, in this V-Convention Connect 2021 session, let’s look into how we can manage distractions, develop self-discipline, and create a meaningful life plan.

Build Character, Break Walls How often do you embrace your inner child and allow your character to grow? As we build this image of ourselves, we inevitably lose our child-like wonder, an essential element that makes us more open to learn and to accept different truths around us.

Turn Your Belief into Success Every V-Convention, you are given the seed of belief. This seed is your key to success. But how do you nurture this? How do you water your seed of belief? The principle of direct selling is entirely different from any other business. We must practice constant engagement, attend trainings regularly, and believe in us to succeed.

32

FEATURE

By now, everyone is aware of climate change. Though some still try to deny it, many of us are determined to act before it’s too late. Here are a few steps we can take together to help save our only home. Thanks to decades of efforts, the ozone layer is on its way to recovery. Now, we must work to ensure it fully heals while also addressing global warming.

Ditch these five single-use items from your life.

Understand your plastics better.

What is e-waste and what can we do about it?

How to reuse more often.

33

Travel is slowly picking up again, so make sure you leave a positive impact on the places you visit.

Forests play a critical role in protecting the livelihoods, ecology, culture, and health of communities worldwide. QNET has launched its Green Legacy campaign by partnering with Ecomatcher to plant a global forest. Learn more about this initiative on our website.

Safeguarding the planet takes more than just reducing waste and conserving energy. Governments, corporations, and everyday people must join hands to respect every life that depends on our planet, care for our communities, and build a better future for generations to come.

HOW TO BECOME

THE CEO OF YOUR

OWN LIFE As an entrepreneur, you are solely responsible for your business as all the important decisions are made by you, and you are in full control.

Have you ever wanted the same control over your life? People often do not take as much of an organised and strategic approach when it comes to managing their personal life compared to their professional life. This is a missed opportunity. Here are a few tips on how you can become the CEO of your own life:

1 2 3 4 5

39 Define Your Goals

Having clear goals not only determines how you act, but it also gives those actions meaning. While CEOs understand that organisations need a purpose and distinct goals, many people don’t realise that their own lives need the same driving factors. Defining your goals is the easy part, now you must decide which goals you are going to prioritise. Once you have your priorities straight, you can start making decisions to achieve them. If your priority is to hit a certain sales goal, work backwards to figure out what you need to do to meet that goal.

Take Action

Taking action is not easy; you will have to overcome fear, doubt, and most likely rejection. To successfully be the CEO of your own life, you must have the ability to feel fear and do it anyway. It can be quick and simple: It just needs to be a step. There is no wrong action, as long as it brings you closer to your vision. It can be tempting to take the easy path and to put your dreams on hold, but don’t hide in the security of playing it safe. Amazing things happen when you step out of your comfort zone.

Examine Your Life

To achieve success, you need to build healthy, inspiring, and supportive relationships. The more you surround yourself with people who drain your energy or cause self-doubt, the less likely you are to reach your full potential. Once you start surrounding yourself with people who challenge, motivate, inspire, and support you, you will reach true greatness. Remember that an organization is only as good as the people in it, the same applies to your personal life.

Conduct A Performance Review

Implementing KPIs into your personal life will help you proactively work towards them. After every quarter, you can set aside time to see how you’ve matched up to the KPIs you set for yourself. This gives you an opportunity to think of skills you need to strengthen and better yourself to achieve your life goals.

Bask In Your Success

As the CEO of your own life, it is important for you to celebrate your success, no matter how small. In your pursuit of being a successful direct seller and part of QNET’s Achievers’ Club, don’t forget to look in the mirror and give yourself praise. Show off your successes to your friends and family because you worked to make it happen. Become the CEO of your own life and turn your dreams into a reality.
