Office Hours You may visit my office to discuss any issues in person. My office is Room 502 in Green Hall. I hold formal office hours on Mondays from 11:00am until 1:30pm, or by appointment via email. Course Policies You must read the daily assignments listed on the syllabus in advance of each class meeting. Evaluation The course will conclude with an examination. Ten percent of the final grade will be based on class participation. Strong class participation includes in-class responses that demonstrate engagement with the readings and an ability to analyze questions in connection with the materials covered throughout the course. Students also show strong class participation by voluntarily contributing to class discussion regularly throughout the semester. Honor Code Matters of law student honesty and integrity in academic performance are governed by the law school’s honor code. The honor code can be viewed at: http://www.law.ku.edu/academics/honorcode.shtml Attendance Regular class attendance is required. I reserve the right to adjust your grade downward—outside the course performance metric—for excessive unexcused absences. If you miss more than four

class meetings without discussing the reasons for your absence with me in advance, you will not be allowed to sit for the final exam. Computers and Other Electronic Devices You may use a computer in class, but please limit your computer activity to taking notes or accessing relevant statutory materials. Anyone participating in distracting activity on a computer, tablet, online gaming system, etc., while in class, may lose his or her privilege to use electronic devices in the classroom. Law School Resources The School of Law works with the University of Kansas Academic Achievement and Access Center to coordinate accommodations and services for students with disabilities. If you have or think you may have a disability for which you wish to request classroom or exam accommodations, please contact the School of Law’s Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Elizabeth Kronk Warner within the first two weeks of the semester. More about the Academic Achievement and Access Center can be found at www.achievement.ku.edu. Statement on Harassment and Other Misconduct The classroom, office hours, and events on and off campus are environments in which students should be free from unwelcome comments and attention from colleagues or the instructor and any situations that undermine our professional education environment. Should you have concerns about conduct by either students or the instructor, please direct them to the School of Law’s Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Elizabeth Kronk Warner, or should you wish to speak with someone outside the School of Law, please contact the University of Kansas Office of Institutional Opportunity & Access, ioa@ku.edu or (785) 864-6414.
