The Andrew Butt Trio: Peregion Nardis Miles Davis This work was originally written by Miles Davis for Cannonball Adderley’s album Portrait of Cannonball. In July 1958, the composition was recorded with Bill Evans on piano. While Davis was not very satisfied with the recording, he said that from then on, Evans was the only one to play it in the way he wanted. The piece would come to be associated with Evans's future trios, which played it frequently and has since emerged as a jazz standard. Le Baiser Salé Andrew Butt & Leo McFadden This piece is dedicated to one of the most well-known Parisian jazz clubs La Baiser Salé where Andrew performed early in 2020. The club is located in central Paris in a small street that features a number of the leading French jazz clubs including Sunset/Sunside and Duc des Lombards. Peregian Andrew Butt This work was composed in reaction to the beach and small coastal town of Peregian on the Sunshine Coast. The programmatic piece is representative of moving through the fauna of the coastal fringe of the area onto the open beach and includes field recordings taken from the area. Sing Song’s Song This ballad was written for the composer’s wife and life partner in 2019.
