Mr. Lau Yiu Man Head of Music Department Conductor of Choir

劉耀文老師 音樂科主任 合唱團指揮

Mr. Lau Yiu Man graduated from the Music Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2009, majoring in recorder. He has just completed his PGDE (music) study in CUHK. Meanwhile, he also studied music recording in the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and passed with a professional diploma in 2010. He is currently a full-time teacher in Queen’s College and studying Master of Arts (Music) in Hong Kong Baptist University.

He first started playing recorder when he was a student in Queen’s College. He joined the school Recorder Band and served as the captain twice in his school life. He studied recorder under the guidance of Henry Ho Wing-Kai from 2005 and has attended various masterclasses during his studies. In 2008, Lau attended a summer school in Czech where he studied privately under Alan Davis.

Lau is also keen on choral music as well as a cappella music. He is a member in both the Set Tone Men (6-men a cappella team) and Die Konzertisten. He was also a member of the Hong Kong Melody Makers was awarded two gold awards in World Choir Games 2010. At the same time, Lau was involved in the production of a cappella theatre “Rock Hard” in New Vision Festival 2008 and its re-run in Shanghai World Expo 2010. He also works as an a cappella arranger and his works has since been used in the collaborations of various local pop stars with the Melody Makers, including Khalil Fong, Ivana Wong and Siufay.

MR. CHAN HO FUNG

陳浩鋒老師

Mr Chan Ho Fung was graduated from the Music Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2011. He is now a full-time teacher in Queen’s College. After graduating at CUHK, he started his music career in the a cappella industry. He joined the Hong Kong Melody Makers in 2009. As a member, he worked with renowned artists including Chet Lam, Eman Lam, Jonathan Wong and the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. Meanwhile, he was involved in the production of a cappella theatre “Rock Hard” in Shanghai World Expo 2010 and 23rd Macao Arts Festival. He also worked as an a cappella arranger. His works were used in the International A Cappella Extravaganza for a few years. As a live sound engineer, he supported shows hosted by The Gay Singers, Zense and Senza. Chan believes that education is the key to vitalise the Hong Kong music industry. By doing so, he collaborated with many secondary schools, and helped their student to strengthen in major competitions.

Mr. Lee Sheung Ching Conductor of Harmonica Band Mr. Lee Sheung Ching, an old boy from Queen’s College, the Honorary Adviser of Hong Kong

Harmonica Association, who won the first runner-up of the World Harmonica Duet, and a famous harmonica player in Hong Kong. Lee now sees nurturing talents and exploring the musical potential of children as his goal. He is committed to promoting harmonica in Asia . He is the conductor of Chinese YMCA harmonica Band. Lee is also the instructor and conductor of the Hong Kong Harmonica Association “St. James Junior Harmonica Band”. He led the team in winning several important international competitions.

李尚澄先生是皇仁書院舊生,香港口琴協會總 監,曾榮獲世界口琴二重奏亞軍,是香港著名口 琴家。李老師現以作育英才、培植後進、發掘具有 音樂潛質的小朋友為目標,致力推廣亞洲區口琴 演奏文化。他是香港中華基督教青年會口琴隊指 揮。李老師也是香港口琴協會聖雅各少年口琴樂 隊導師及指揮,帶領「聖雅各少年口琴樂團」在多 個重要的國際比賽奪獎。

Prior to that, he achieved distinction in ABRSM grade 8 examination and was invited to perform at the High Scorer Concert held by ABRSM in 2013. To is an active player, he had participated in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival since the age of 9 and won many champions as a soloist, an ensemble player as well as in the recorder band. He also participated in Stefan Temmingh, Dan Laurin master classes and acquired several advanced techniques in the past few years.
