Eco conscious

Go green! At P-Wave® we’re on a continuous journey of improvement, especially when it comes to the environment. Compared with their aerosol alternatives, our refills are more environmentally friendly and are recyclable, and we’re now manufacturing with up to 15% recycled material across our range.

We continue to roll out the EcoPure® additive for faster biodegradation if they end up in landfill across more products in our fragrance range. So far this has achieved 80% biodegradation in just five years.

Partnering with the NHS

We’re working together with NHS England to deliver an important health message and to encourage body awareness. You’ll see this messaging on our Slant6 and Trough urinal screens throughout 2024 and beyond.

Why we are supporting the NHS

Passing blood in pee – even just once – is a common symptom for bladder, kidney or prostate cancers, which are all amongst the 10 most prevalent cancers in the UK, and generally affect men more than women.

Our urinal screens are already used at tens of thousands of venues across the UK and present a unique, high-impact opportunity to share an awareness message that has the power to save lives.

Survey data shows just over half of men in England use a public urinal at least once a week. And the majority of men (71%) said they would be more likely to contact their GP practice if they saw messaging on a urinal mat and were experiencing blood in their pee.

Vital cancer awareness messaging

Health chiefs believe this unique, first of its kind partnership with P-Wave® will enable the NHS to place vital cancer awareness messaging in public urinals, a relevant location where symptoms such as blood in pee may first be noticed.

Diagnosing cancer early means it is easier to treat and can save lives, which is why the NHS is urging people to be aware of changes in their bodies and contact their GP practice if they notice symptoms that could be cancer.

Professor Peter Johnson, NHS England National Clinical Director for Cancer, said: “Having blood in your pee – even just once – shouldn’t be ignored because it can be a sign of cancer, so it needs to be checked out by your GP team.

“Cancer survival is at an all-time high, and we’re seeing more cancers than ever before being picked up at an early stage – and this partnership with P-Wave® is just one of the many ways we are helping people to be aware of possible cancer symptoms.”

The NHS’s initiative is being supported by David, 70 years old, from Cambridge; Adil, 28 years old from London; and Michael, 67 years old, from Buckinghamshire, who were all diagnosed with cancer after noticing blood in their pee.

Adil said: “I first noticed blood in my pee in 2021.

As a fit and healthy 28-year-old, the last thing I thought it could be was cancer. But after losing a vast amount of weight very quickly, I decided to reach out to my local GP practice, which led to my diagnosis of kidney cancer. Thankfully, it was treatable with help from the amazing team at the Royal Free Hospital!”

“My story shows that cancer can affect people of any age, and the NHS and P-Wave® partnership is a great way to remind people to contact their GP practice if they notice a change in their body which doesn’t feel right.”

Protecting our environment with EcoPure®

Flexible, resilient and durable, plastics are vital for modern life but often end up in landfills due to limited recycling. At P-Wave®, we’re using EcoPure® - a groundbreaking solution that enhances plastic biodegradability. This innovation helps reduce waste, supports sustainability, and ensures plastics remain convenient without compromising environmental responsibility.

Our approach to a sustainable future

Our recyclable urinal screens are manufactured using a polymer called EVA. The challenge for us is that recycling programmes vary from region to region and there are no guarantees that the products will be widely recycled. We therefore wanted a failsafe.

With EcoPure®, we’ve achieved 80% biodegradation of our Slant6 in just five years of testing. As a brand that takes our responsibility to the environment really seriously, we are on a crusade to make our products as environmentally friendly as possible and EcoPure® is just the beginning of our sustainable adventure.

How does EcoPure® work?

The EcoPure® additive in the Slant6 and Trough urinal screens accelerates the biodegradation of treated plastics in microbe rich environments. Plastics treated with EcoPure® have unlimited shelf life and are completely non-toxic. When added to a polymer it attracts microbes allowing them to colonise on the plastic and begin to breakdown the polymer chain by utilising its carbon backbone as an energy source. This creates the opportunity for microbes to utilise plastic as food.

To biodegrade, the urinal screens are simply added to a microbe-rich landfill environment and, based on current testing, are expected to biodegrade in less than 10 years, without leaving behind any microplastics. This process continues until the only remaining element is nutritional soil. Comparing this to normal untreated plastics, which can pollute the planet for anything up to 500 years and often leave behind harmful microplastics, it’s an amazing and revolutionary additive!

P-Wave® 360 Urinal Screen

The P-Wave® 360 urinal screen offers a breakthrough in restroom maintenance with up to 60 days of freshness and superior splash diffusion. Its innovative dual-sided design with vertical and horizontal protrusions minimizes splashback and prevents incorrect installation, ensuring a cleaner environment with minimal maintenance. Features include a lockable design, LCD refill alerts, adjustable fan settings, and operation on a single AA battery. The refill system is recyclable.

Our professional 30-day battery-operated air freshener is ideal for larger spaces, delivering consistent fragrance with a high-powered fan. One unit freshens up to 50m², with additional units providing extended coverage. Its smart fan program adjusts as the refill weakens, conserving battery life (C-size battery not included).
