E a c h ye a r, t h i s t w o - d a y c o n f e r e n c e is held in conjunction with t h e N C A A D i v i s i o n I Wo m e n’s F i n a l Fo u r t o u r n a m e n t l e a d up as will be the case when m o r e t h a n 7 5 o f t h e i n d u s t r y ’s brightest female leaders gather in New Orleans, Louisiana A pril 1-3, 2020 to network, lear n, and g row both personal-
l y a n d p r o f e s s i o n a l l y. That has been the goal of the Summit since its inception in 2018. A small g roup of leaders, including Greater Columbus Sports Commission E x e c u t i v e D i r e c t o r, L i n d a L o gan, had the idea to develop a platfor m specifically for women in the g rowing and dynamic i n d u s t r y. L o g a n n o t e d , “ O u r Wo m e n’s Summit was created to focus on leadership and career developm e n t w h i l e p r ov i d i n g a p l a c e to share insights on issues facing women in the workplace while also addressing matters that are specific to the touri s m , s p o r t s a n d e v e n t i n d u s t r y. This initiative has already provided insight into trends and opportunities for the future while enhancing our networks and mentoring opportunities.” Logan, a well-respected leader in the industry and one of only a handful of female past S p o r t s E TA B o a r d C h a i r s , f a c i l i t a t e d a Wo m e n’s C a b i n e t comprised of top female brass from organizations such as the
Inter national Association of Ve n u e M a n a g e r s ( I AV M ) a n d Meeting Professionals Inter national (MPI). Her city hosted t h e i n a u g u r a l Wo m e n’s S u m m i t c a p p e d o f f by o n e o f t h e b e s t Wo m e n’s F i n a l Fo u r t o u r naments in history as Notre Dame defeated UCONN in the c h a m p i o n s h i p g a m e. Fr o m h e a r i n g E S P N ’s D e b b i A n t o n e l l i ’s h e a r t w a r m i n g s t o r y, t o l e a r n i n g a b o u t t h e i m p o r t a n c e o f m e n t o r s h i p, t h o s e of us in attendance in Columbus knew we were a part o f s o m e t h i n g s p e c i a l . We a l s o knew we wanted that experience to continue into the future of the association.
