The festival was put on hold for two years during the pandemic but the organisers are delighted to be staging the annual event once more.

Founder Crispin Slee said: “It’s great to be back. We cannot wait. Summer in Towcester just isn’t the same without the festival.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to Towcester Racecourse once more for the highlight of the culinary calendar in South Northants.”

He added: “The early bird tickets have been selling like hot cakes so people are obviously keen to see us back.

“Some of our regular traders have been able to adapt and hang on over the past two years but others have disappeared.

“This year’s festival will about re-building and helping the producers and sellers that have survived along the road to full recovery.”

To mark the return of the event, children will go free. Mr Slee said: “After everything the country has been through, we want families to be able to treat themselves.”

Towcester Food Festival is a celebration for artisan food and drinks, with stalls ringing the racecourse in large, openfronted marquees.

There are also free chef demos, live music including a performance by Towcester Rock Choir, a street food market, cheese tasting sessions and kids' cookery classes, run by Rachel Wilson of Cookery Doodle Doo in Towcester.

Towcester Food Festival takes place on Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12, opening at 10am on each day. Parking is free.

Tickets are now on sale. Please visit: towcesterfoodfestival.co.uk for more information.

Volunteers are needed to help stage the festival. In return, they get free tickets and a lunch voucher. Contact details are on the website.
