Traffic and commercial activity
El tráfico total del Puerto de Avilés en el año 2010 fue de 4.590.237 Tn, lo que supuso un incremento del 14,76% respecto a la cifra del año 2009 en el que se movieron 40.000.015 Tn.
Total traffic for the Port of Avilés has been to the order of 4,590,237 t, which represents a 14.76% rise with respect to the 2009 figure, during the course of which some 40,000.015 t were moved.
El tráfico de mercancías fue de 4.540.549 Tn, un 14,94% por encima del mismo movimiento registrado durante el año 2009. Dicho incremento se ha presentado prácticamente durante todos los meses del año, con la excepción de septiembre y julio, que fueron ligeramente inferiores, como puede apreciarse en el gráfico siguiente:
Freight traffic was to the order of 4,540,549 t, registering a 14.94% increase on the movement recorded for 2009. Indeed, this rise proved consistent throughout the entire year, with the exceptions of July and September, the figures for which were slightly lower than last year’s, as can be seen from the following graph:

Atendiendo a la clasificación de las mercancías según su forma de presentación, se observa que:

Graneles líquidos: Durante el año 2010 el movimiento de graneles líquidos fue inferior en un 7,41% respecto al realizado en el año 2009, siendo junto con el mínimo descenso de la pesca, los apartados en que se registran datos peores que los del año precedente. Dichos descensos fueron motivados fundamentalmente por los originados en el ácido sulfúrico, un 16,82%, así como por el aceite de creosota con un 15,60% de descenso. Su representatividad en el tráfico total del Puerto no alcanza el 14% del total de mercancías.
Liquid bulk: Liquid bulk movement dropped by 7.41% in 2010 with respect to last year’s figures, which along with fishing, were the only two sections that registered worse figures than 2009. This fall-off in traffic was basically caused by the drop in sulphuric acid by 16.82% and in deal oil to the order of 15.60%. These items only account for 14% of overall freight traffic.
