THEATRE UNDER THE STARS HOLDS AUDITIONS FOR OKLAHOMA! AND THE WIZ HOUSTON — Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) will hold auditions for two productions from its upcoming 50th Anniversary Season, Oklahoma! and The Wiz. OKLAHOMA! AUDITIONS TUTS’ production of Oklahoma! will be directed by Dallas Theater Center’s Artistic Director, Kevin Moriarty. The production, which is an artistic collaboration with Houston Ballet, will be choreographed by Stanton Welch AM, Artistic Director of Houston Ballet. Broadway conductor Kimberly Grigsby will be conducting the show. Joining them on the production are Andrew Harper as Sound Designer, Jason Lyons as Lighting Designer, and Karen Perry as Costume Designer.

Quiet, brooding and solitary. Emotionally imbalanced, volatile and dangerous. Struggles with his desires and relating to others. Strong actor. Strong bass/baritone. Voice: Baritone (D2 to D4) Ali Hakim - Male, 30’s to 40’s. A peddler from Persia (present day Iran). Romantic, but not interested in settling down. Smart and quick witted. Strong comic actor. Voice: Baritone (D2 to F#4)

The Wiz will be directed by Robert O’Hara and choreographed by Byron Easley. Joining them on the production will be Darryl Ivey as Music Director, Alex Jainchill as Lighting Designer, Andrew Harper as Sound Designer, Dede Ayite as Costume Designer, Aaron Rhyne as Projection Designer, and Jason Sherwood as Set Designer.
