•••

INTENSIVE

ROOM 208A

Join us for a movie and discussion about how something as simple as a ball has had major impacts on how we play. From Brazilian favelas to dusty Congolese villages, from neolithic Scottish isles to modern soccer pitches, BOUNCE explores the littleknown origins of our favorite sports. Equal parts science, history, and cultural essay, BOUNCE removes us from the scandals and commercialism of today's sports world to uncover the true reasons we play ball, helping us reclaim our universal connection to the games we love. Brand Impact Workshop: Assessing Power and Effectiveness of Your Brand Operations

INTENSIVE

ROOM 207B

This interactive session will invite participants to examine their organization's brand and identify ways to stimulate growth and raise awareness. After a brief branding overview, participants will dive into an intensive brand impact rating exercise and identify goals to help them elevate their existing brand to a more compelling and dynamic presence.

School leadership is essential to charter schools, but it can be challenging to develop leaders when performance evaluators may not have educational experience. This interactive session introduces a research-based, customizable principal evaluation system that is being used in several states. Participants will learn about AIR's Five Essential Practices of School Leadership framework and a suite of tools that charter boards and others can use to evaluate and support the professional growth of their school leaders. ROOM 105A

Professional development often turns off teachers and school leaders because it can be boring and transactional. Educational professionals attend many seminars and meetings because they are required to, and fatigued by "proving" they are learning, educators can lose interest in their own professional development. But most teachers and school leaders actually want to learn and grow. Join us for an exploration of a technique tool kit powered by educator curiosity. When teachers and leaders work together, amazing things can happen.

Accountability Transformed: The Every Student Succeeds Act Leadership

•••

ROOM 106C

Accountability has been a core value of charter schools since their earliest days, when charter schools first welcomed increased accountability in exchange for greater operational autonomy. Now this accountability faces significant fundamental change, through the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). ESSA returns education policy power to states – for example, by letting states design their own accountability measures and do so with fewer federal rules and mandates. During the session, experts will discuss trends in state accountability. They will also discuss ESSA’s implications for schools, students, and communities, and for charter autonomy and the performance contracts for which charters are held accountable.
