Spearheading this new direction are our two new cochairs of the organisation: Jennifer Bertrand and Val Watson.
Jennifer and Val bring their combined, varied work and personal experiences and are looking forward to working together on behalf of Lapidus, taking its agenda and values forward. This co-chairing pair who are based in the UK and Canada will be testing the interesting challenge of working across time zones online and, we hope, encouraging and modelling international collaboration to our membership and communities. Our forthcoming ‘Creative Bridges’ conference on 18th & 19th September – whose keynote speakers are Kate Fox and Sveto Muhammad Ishoq – reflects our aim to be international in our focus, embracing diversity in our approach. The breadth of workshops on offer will provide exciting opportunities to learn, enjoy and be inspired.
By bringing people, their words and stories together, we can create a multi-layered and delicious virtual cake which will leave you wanting more.
Teachers Training Program in Pandemic Times European Association of Creative Writing Programmes (EACWP)
Due to the pandemic worldwide circumstances, in July, 2020, the EACWP launched the first Premium Virtual Edition of its European Course for Teachers of Creative Writing. This initiative was conceived as an on-line format committed to the need of giving continuity to a European pedagogical dialogue as in regular circumstances the EACWP was devoted to through its Teachers Training Course Program celebrated on spot in Normandy (France) in 2017 and 2018 and, the year after, in the Alden Biesen castle (Belgium) in 2019.
As in the regular format of our training program, three of our most expert EACWP teachers share their different methodologies, approaches and experiences in the teaching of creative writing by offering a so called “auteur workshop” by performing and explaining their own ars pedagogica and didactics from both a theoretical and practical approach. All the working sessions are focused on pedagogical training and guidelines to empower the participants to develop their own teaching interests and new possibilities.
Thanks to the remarkable success of the first Premium Virtual Edition, the EACWP launched a second edition (January, 2021) and a third one (July, 2021), gathering more than 25 worldwide participants, representing more than different 15 countries. In these occasions, we counted on the participation of a varied panel of our EACWP teachers such as Risto Ahti (Orivesi Colleges of Arts / Finland), Frank Tazelaar (ArtEZ / The Netherlands), Renée Combal-Weiss (Aleph-Écriture / France), Jenifer Smith (NAWE / UK) and Javier Sagarna (Escuela de Escritores / Spain), our current EACWP president.
Worldwide participants are invited to join our fourth Premium Virtual Edition in November (2021) as well as the fourth edition of our Teachers Training Course that will be hopefully celebrated on spot in the Alden Biesen castle next July (2022).
