La Plaza Hijas de Tampico debe su nombre a la asociación “Los hijos de Tampico” creada en tiempos del auge petrolero por un grupo de mujeres trabajadoras que buscaban aportar algo a la comunidad tampiqueña.
CORREDOR TURÍSTICO
Antiguo Edificio de la Aduana-Paseo La Cortadura Con el fin de impulsar el dinamismo turístico y comercial de la Zona Centro, el gobierno municipal con apoyo del gobierno estatal y el federal, creó un ambicioso proyecto, el más importantes de los últimos tiempos en esta zona, que consiste en un corredor turístico que conectará dos puntos clave de Tampico, el edificio de la Antigua Aduana monumento histórico y joya arquitectónica de la ciudad y el Paseo La Cortadura. La primera etapa de este corredor turístico ya concluida, consistió en la reconfiguración de la calle Aduana a semi peatonal con banquetas adoquinadas, iluminación ornamental y jardineras desde la calle Obregón hasta la Díaz Mirón. La segunda etapa que funcionará en poco tiempo será de la calle Díaz Mirón a Héroes del Cañonero para posteriormente seguir con la última etapa de la calle Obregón hasta la desembocadura del Paseo La Cortadura. Sumado a lo anterior se construyó una plazoleta alrededor del monumento al centenario de la repoblación de la ciudad así como la Plaza Hijas de Tampico en el área que antiguamente ocupara el mercado gastronómico, obra que cuenta con áreas verdes, iluminación, señalización y mobiliario urbano. Todo esto acorde a la fisonomía que tendrán los modernos mercados que actualmente se encuentran en construcción. Este corredor permitirá un acceso directo entre el Centro Histórico de la ciudad y el Puerto de Tampico mejorando la imagen urbana siendo además otra opción para la convivencia familiar y sano esparcimiento de los tampiqueños y aquellos que nos visitan.
In order to increase the tourist and commercial industry of the Downtown Area, the local government with the support of the State and Federal governments created an ambitious project, the most important in this area. It consists in creating a tourist corridor connecting two main points of Tampico, the Old Customs Building, an historic monument and architectural gem of the city, and La Cortadura Promenade. The first stage of this tourist corridor, now finished, consisted in the reconfiguration of the Aduana Street into a semi pedestrian walk with cobblestone sidewalks, landscape illumination and garden areas from Obregón until Díaz Mirón Street. The second stage, that will start running in very short time, will be from Díaz Mirón to Héroes del Cañonero Street and subsequently they will continue with its last stage from Obregón Street to the mouth of La Cortadura Promenade. In addition to the above, a small square was built around the monument of the centenary of the city’s repopulation. As well as, the Plaza Hijas of Tampico around the area formerly occupied by the gastronomic market, this work has green areas, illumination, road signs and urban furniture. All this adapted to the physiognomy that will have the modern markets that are today under construction. This corridor will allow the direct access between the Historic Center of the City and the Port of Tampico, improving the urban image, being another option to the family life and healthy recreation for the tampiqueños and everyone else who visits us.
