Rabbit Logic Gwen Hart
How many times have I built a nest under a bush in a fenced yard, only to be confronted by a dog’s angry maw? Or followed finch logic, tussling with another finch over the red berries in the tree, when there are enough on the branches for a dozen finches? Some days, like the chipmunk, I snap off the tender sunflower sprouts as soon as they appear, instead of harvesting a whole winter’s stockpile of seeds in the fall. Too often I join the crows, delighting in my latest find, exclaiming over my easy fortune (when you don’t ask for much, it’s usually right there, spilling from someone’s raggedy, tipped-over garbage).
