WELCOME
T
hank you for joining us at Boettcher Concert Hall for this performance featuring your Colorado Symphony, a cultural gem that brings the transformative power of music to all citizens around our beautiful state. Hold on to your hats! From guest performances by renowned artists like Branford Marsalis to Broadway and Classic Rock tribute concerts (we dare you not to dance in the aisles), the 2013/14 season is diverse, exciting, collaborative, and downright entertaining. We never forget that there is business to be done: How do we provide exceptional performances while assuring a bright and prosperous future for our orchestra? Here’s how we’ll do it: • The Colorado Symphony will cultivate new audience members across Colorado, with accessible and affordable entertainment that appeals to all ethnicities, orientations and ages. • We will increase revenue by a minimum of 10% throughout our organization during the 2013/14 season, which will allow us to achieve a level of sustainability we have not experienced since before the great recession took hold. It’s important to remember that the Colorado Symphony can only exist with the support of its community. Ticket revenue alone covers just one half of our expenses, with your contributions providing the rest. For this reason, your support remains crucial in sustaining the finest and only full-time orchestra in Colorado and the region. Please visit our website to learn about the many ways you can engage with and support your Colorado Symphony. Finally (drum roll, please) .... we are thrilled to welcome Andrew Litton as our Music Director. Formerly our Artistic Advisor, Andrew is a team player who will rocket this orchestra to new levels of achievement, and we’ve grown to think of him as part of the family. Now, it’s official! We are excited to share this 2013/14 season with you – our dedicated supporters.
