SKIN BLEMISH REMOVAL COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES LEVEL 4 AWARD SKIN BLEMISH REMOVAL This is an approved qualification for working as an advanced beauty therapist specializing skin blemish removal. It also provides a sound platform for further learning or training.

Sometimes due to age, damage or injury, our skin creates unwanted blemishes. This advanced treatment offers clients a method of stimulating the healing process and make the blemish less prominent. The Level 4 Award in Skin Blemish Removal is a vocationally related qualification focused on carrying out advanced electrical epilation techniques to treat skin tags, milia, telangiectasia, spider naevi and blood spots. COURSE CONTENT: You will develop the advanced skills to carry out a thorough consultation, formulate an individual treatment plan and provide aftercare advice. Health, safety and hygiene are also key elements of this qualification. TRAINING SCHEDULE: There will be some home study before your attendance at the centre for delivery of the theory knowledge and practical skills. Once competence has been reached, you will attend the final assessments of theory knowledge and practical skills.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: An introduction into anatomy, physiology and pathology and the L3 Certificate in Epilation are pre-requisites to this qualification. Kit and uniform are required for this course.

ASSESSMENT: Assessment of practical skills will be at the training centre or designated workplace. Continuous assessment by means of written work, assignments and home practice will contribute to your portfolio of evidence. A learning plan with dates for assessment will be agreed by you and your tutor on enrolment. As part of this qualification you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm

the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in electronic or paper format. Your assessor will provide guidance on how to prepare the portfolio of evidence and how to show practical achievement and understanding of the knowledge required to successfully complete this qualification. It is this booklet along with the portfolio of evidence that will serve as the prime source of evidence for this qualification. Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms: • Observed work • Witness statements • Audio-visual media • Evidence of prior learning or attainment • Written questions • Oral questions • Assignments • Case studies All evidence should be documented in the portfolio and cross-referenced to unit outcomes. Constructing the portfolio of evidence should not be left to the end of the course. Other questions should be addressed to the tutor, lecturer or assessor. PROGRESSION: There are a range of Beauty Therapy qualifications at Level 2, 3 or 4 that can add to your range of treatments to offer clients.
