In the Fiddler's House Itzhak Perlman, reigning virtuoso of the violin, presents his collection of traditional klezmer music, In the Fiddler’s House. Released more than 25 years ago, the album became a PBS special that earned Perlman his third Emmy Award. Perlman comes back to this project, offering audiences the opportunity to witness his masterful technique and remarkable artistry, but also “to see and hear a gifted musician experiencing the pleasure of getting in contact with his roots” (Los Angeles Times). Caroline Shaw is a musician who moves among roles, genres, and mediums, trying to imagine a world of sound that has never been heard before but has always existed. She works often in collaboration with others, as producer, composer, violinist, and vocalist, which won her the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in Music and three Grammy Awards. Caroline has written over 100 works in the last decade including for Yo-Yo Ma, Renée Fleming, and Dawn Upshaw, and has contributed to films and podcasts such as Beyonce’s Homecoming, Tár, and Dolly Parton’s America, among others.

EDUCATION & COMMUNITY For 70 years, the Philharmonic Society’s Youth Music Education Programs have inspired and transformed the lives of more than 6 million students across Orange County through enriching programming and a diverse array of opportunities. The Philharmonic Society offers ten different youth programs, free of charge to local schools, which provide unique experiences that are essential for building a foundation of appreciation and an enthusiasm for music that can last a lifetime. As the education and classroom landscape has changed over the past seven decades, so too have the Philharmonic Society’s Youth Music Education Programs. PHILHARMONIC COMMITTEES The Committees of the Philharmonic Society are the volunteer force that plays an active role in providing music education and community programs. With 19 Committees located throughout Orange County, our 500 volunteer members provide more than 90,000 hours of inkind service each year to support the Philharmonic Society's Youth Music Education Programs. Established in 1970 as the area’s first honors youth orchestra, the Philharmonic Society’s Orange County Youth Symphony continues to be recognized as Southern California’s powerhouse for the region’s finest youth symphony program.
