MURIEL MOSCARDINI LONGOMATCH Muriel Moscardini is CEO of Fluendo, a company that enables multimedia and video on a wide variety of devices and operating systems. Fluendo develops LongoMatch, a software tool that lets users perform real-time analysis on sports game video feeds. LongoMatch is used today worldwide by amateur and professional sports teams, including Harvard University, the Belgium national World Cup football team and the Spanish national handball federation. Moscardini herself comes from a sporting family, in which her father, a sports coach, was part of the team creating “Mini Tennis” in France, today part of the French Federation of Tennis. She admits that her management style is also based upon “sporting values” - harnessing team spirit, effort and performance. These values and her background have been of great benefit in understanding the objectives and requirements of LongoMatch users. Moscardini believes technology needs to adapt to the user need, coaches are here for coaching not for reviewing systems or data, and therefore, she drives the

product development close to coaches, referees and scouting agents, learning along the way from all sports the system enables. Moscardini has 20 years of management experience in manufacturing and information technology companies. She joined the Fluendo executive management team in 2008 to build its business-to-business relationships with top equipment manufacturers including Hewlett Packard, IBM, Raytheon, General Dynamics, Intel and AMD, among others. Prior to joining Fluendo, Moscardini helped smart card market leader Gemplus (Gemalto) build a multi-site supply chain across the U.S., Mexico, UK, Germany, France and China, ultimately achieving delivery of millions of smart cards monthly. She also worked for Altran Technologies Consulting, where she oversaw an engineering team dedicated to industrial projects in defense (DGA, DCN, CNIM) and electronics (Eurocopter, Alcatel Space), and later oversaw operations in Spain at one of Altran’s IT-focused companies. Fluendo continues to develop video analysis solutions for new markets such as defense and education.

WEDNESDAY | ESP THEATRE 9 | 14.45 - 15.15 How Video Analysis Solutions Help Improve Performance In Sports More than 10 years ago we started using video as a tool in many environments; sports has been one of the first to adopt such solutions. It is interesting to see how these technologies have evolved and how these solutions help coaches, scouts, referees to improve performance. After an introduction and a presentation of these solutions, we will welcome Michele Santoni, coach at Cesena Italy, ex Ajax, to provide his testimony about how he uses video analysis in his daily coaching of the team. We will end the talk with an insight on what is next with these systems.

DR DAVID THOMAS REDUCING YOUR ATHLETE’S RECOVERY TIME Over the last 50 years Dr David Thomas has competed as an international athlete, and worked as a geologist, chiropractor, and nutritionist. Here he delves into his extensive knowledge of injury recovery in elite level sport. Dr Thomas DC, MRNT, MSc, DIC won the British junior AAAs 100yds in 1967 and was a member of the first GB junior athletics team; however, a back injury curtailed his sprinting aspirations. David graduated as a geologist and worked for eight years in precious and base metal exploration and mining before he was elected as a Fellow of the Geological Society. David retrained as a

chiropractor and became a founding member of the Register of Nutritional Therapists. This background has provided him with an unusual insight to the origin, therapeutic uses, and toxic potential of minerals and trace elements. In 2002, David’s research paper `The historical loss of minerals and trace elements in the food available to us as a nation` was published, later updated and republished in 2007.

THURSDAY | ESP THEATRE 9 | 14.00 - 14.30 Optimising Performance Through Ensuring Electrolyte And Biomechanical Balance The current requirements of elite athletes and teams is to maximise their performance. Consequently all the elements that must combine to achieve the best performance possible have to be scrutinized and optimized. Three fundamental components critical to achieving this are hydration, electrolyte balance and biomechanical integrity. David, after 30 years of promoting Chiropractic and nutrition hopes to share some of his insights with you.
