As you head toward those glacial reefs and white sandy beaches, just a few kilometres’ paddle from Lund, keep your eyes open for sea lions, bald eagles and a variety of sea birds, all waiting for their breakfast to surface. Kayaking is especially good on the southwest side of Savary, where it is too rocky for powerboats. The water is shallow here and you will likely see many types of marine life.
ON A LAKE
Lake kayaking is a quieter activity than the ocean-travelling type with challenges of waves and tides. Powell River has plenty of opportunities for both with miles of shoreline and nearby islands as well as an abundance of lakes within an easy distance from city centre.
