FRIAR LEGENDS FOREVER TRADITION / HALL OF FAME HONOREES FRIAR LEGENDS FOREVER TRADITION The Friar Legends Forever Tradition began in 1996. To earn the honor, the player, coach or administrator must have made a significant impact on Friar women’s basketball and must have received national recognition during her career. The Providence College men’s basketball program also honors the Friar Legends Forever Tradition. To date, three women’s basketball players and one athletic administrator have been recognized. Andrea Mangum ‘90 was named BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player after helping Providence captured the conference title in 1990. She is the only Providence College women’s basketball player to earn the tournament’s top honor.
Andrea Mangum ‘90 became the third Friar to have her jersey retired, and the fourth honoree overall for women’s basketball, as part of the Friar Legends Forever Tradition. The ceremony was held on February 14, 2015, and she also was honored at halftime of the men’s and women’s basketball games that weekend. In 2010, former Associate Athletic Director, the late Helen Bert, and former Friar great Kathy Finn Hill ‘84 were honored. In 2014, Tracy Lis ‘92 also was honored as part of the tradition.
