World-renowned soloists join ProMusica at the storied Southern Theatre to reimagine tradition. Every note is played to keep you on the edge of your senses.

What is your most memorable live music experience?

ProMusica’s 47th season opens with our signature celebratory style! GRAMMY-winning banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck dazzles with his arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, and the orchestra premieres composer and NAKED CLASSICS host Paul Rissmann’s FLOW: Variations Over Time taking audiences on a journey through landmark styles of modern orchestral music. The evening closes with Beethoven’s dynamic Symphony No. 1, for a thrilling start to the year.

Saint-Saëns & Schubert

Evoking cultural connection and reflection, the orchestra opens with Gabriela Lena Frank’s Elegía Andina a fusion of Andean folk traditions and classical textures. Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient and pianist Terrence Wilson makes his ProMusica debut, performing Saint-Saëns’ virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 2. The concert concludes with Schubert’s powerful and moving Symphony No. 4 “Tragic.”

Mozart - Symphony No. 35 “Hafner”

An evening rich with classical and contemporary influences Mark Kosower, principal cellist of The Cleveland Orchestra, performs Friedrich Gulda’s genre-defying Concerto for Cello and Wind Orchestra, fusing classical tradition with jazz and rock flair. William Grant Still’s imaginative The East opens the program, and Mozart’s rarely performed Symphony No. 22 is paired with one of his most famous works, the lively and lyrical Symphony No. 35 “Hafner.”

of Mahler’s beloved Symphony No. 4. Acclaimed for her radiant voice and expressive artistry, renowned soprano Camilla Tilling makes her ProMusica debut, showcasing her versatility as a soloist with both Mahler and Golijov’s Three Songs for Soprano and String Orchestra

Creative Partner Vadim Gluzman leads a witty and bold program, joined by returning rising stars Julian Rhee and Janice Carissa. An homage to Mozart is presented in Schnittke’s theatrical Moz-Art à la Haydn, followed by Mozart’s elegant Piano Concerto No. 17. Daugherty’s Diamond in the Rough sparkles before the musicians close with Mozart’s grand and joyful Sinfonia Concertante.

Creative Partner and violinist Vadim Gluzman, Music Director David Danzmayr, and the orchestra reunite onstage to present Shostakovich’s powerful Violin Concerto No. 1, a work of emotional depth and intensity. Copland’s beloved Appalachian Spring evokes a sentimental and tender contrast, capturing the heart of the American spirit. Strauss’ iconic Blue Danube Waltz closes the concert with sweeping elegance and charm bringing the 47th season to a joyful finale.

Neighborhood Series

We know you can’t always make it to the theatre. Our Neighborhood Series brings the orchestra to you, performing one-hour programs in communities across Columbus, in exquisite venues like Saint Mary Catholic Church and Worthington United Methodist Church.

Host Paul Rissmann presents this innovative program exploring classical music in a fun and fresh format. Through images, sound bites, and interviews with our musicians, NAKED CLASSICS deconstructs some of the greatest works in the orchestral repertoire, uncovering secrets in the score, and exploring the composer’s life and times. At the end, you will be treated to a full performance of the works.

NAKED CLASSICS is for everyone—from the frequent concertgoer to the newcomer. We invite you to be entertained and enlightened!
