A taste of Scandinavia
Up until now, you have probably associated IKEA with well-designed, functional home furnishings at an affordable price. But from now on, we’ll also be known for lax – which means salmon in Swedish. This tasty and healthy fsh is one of many dishes on our restaurant menu. And there’s a good reason for that.
Lax has, from the middle ages and forward, played a crucial role in Swedish and Scandinavian food culture. We like lax so much that we enjoy it as an everyday food – and as a holiday treat for Christmas, Easter and Midsummer.
recently participated in a WWF-initiated “ IKEA dialogue that led to the development of a new standard for sustainable salmon farming, which we will apply to all the salmon we sell and serve. That’s why IKEA has participated in the multi-stakeholder dialogue initiated and led by WWF which has developed criteria and a standard for sustainable salmon farming. IKEA has committed to only source salmon from ASC-certified (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) farms by August 2015 at the latest.
