Final Design Plan
For my Final Design, I have decided to create my Zine on the Myanmar New Year, also known as Thingyan. I believe this will be a great subject for me to try and tell. Thingyan not only is the biggest event celebrated in Myanmar each year but it also is the time where other traditional activies happen such as paying respect to Elders, meditation and donations, making traditional Thingyan food and many more. Thingyan is a celebration not only for the Burmese people but anyone from any country, race or religion can join in and take part. It’s a joyful time of the that brings people together and celebrate for the upcoming new year.

These yellow flowers are one of the national flowers of Myanmar. They also represent Thingyan and are known as Thingyan flower because of the time of the year they blossom is usually over the Thingyan period. The official name of these flowers are ‘Padauk’. In Burmese, flower is called Pan these Thingyan flowers are known has Padauk Pan. The Burmese usually say the first rainfall of Thingyan brings the Padauk Pan meaning the first rain of around Thingyan time is when these flowers start to flower.

For my Zine, I will be mainly using the the colour shades above. The yellows and green represents the Padauk flowers and its green leaves. Not only this but they are the colours of Thingyan known my the community so it makes the perfect colours for my Zine. I have also added the colour red for use on any little details on my Zine that needs some hightlight. Also, the red colour is also one of the colours of the current Myanmar and when put togther, the whole pallete can be considered as a representation of the Myanmar flag.
