MEETING MICHEL AND PIERRE ROSET

CONFLUENCES SOFA Ligne Roset 2009

He submitted his proposal to the VIA (Valorisation de l’Innovation dans l’Ameublement) in Paris. He obtained grants for various projects which were later exhibited at the VIA's gallery and at the furniture fairs of Paris and Milan. One of these projects was conducted with Compagnons du Devoir in 2008, a unique opportunity which led Nigro to explore his craftsman skills and open a dialogue. The result: the “Intersections” sofas, an intersection among different high-quality seats on an asymmetrical plane, with a sophisticated color range. It is in the context of this project that Philippe Nigro meets Michel and Pierre Roset. Presented with this new design, the principals decided to produce the model. Under the new name “Confluences”, the model was revised in 2009, a process closely observed by the designer, who ensured industrial

restraints were considered. At this point, the collaboration began, Philippe discovered the family-run company that dated back to 1860, with unrivaled accomplishments. Since the 70s, Michel and Pierre Roset have developed a creative strategy, adamant that cooperation with designers drives the evolution of the brand. "It's my job to look for profound personalities," explains Michel Roset. The design challenges met with industrial tools, mass production, manufacturing and budget constraints to meet the customer needs, all enriched Philippe Nigro's experience.
