Adrià Julià NOTES ON THE MISSING OH A portrait of a country, a man, a landscape and the story of an orphaned Hollywood movie. A monumental box-office flop and doomed to fail before it was even released, Inchon is remembered by Hollywood as one of the worst movies ever made. In Notes on the Missing Oh, a three screen film installation accompanied by new video work, Adrià Julià revisits the legacy of this movie to create a historical portrait of the film’s untold story. Adrià Julià was born in Barcelona and lives and works in Los Angeles. His work has been shown in the recent Seoul Media City (2010), Lyon Biennale (2009) and Mercosul Biennial (2009), and is included in an exhibition at Witte de With, Rotterdam opening September 2011.

ULSTER BANK DUBLIN THEATRE FESTIVAL THE ANIMALS AND CHILDREN TOOK TO THE STREETS BY 1927 29 SEPT – 2 OCT | TICKETS €20 – 30 Welcome to the Bayou, a part of the city feared and loathed wherein lies the infamous Bayou Mansions; a sprawling stinking tenement block, where curtain-twitchers and peeping-toms live side by side, and the wolf... is always at the door. A wickedly twisted new show from the company behind the 2008 Theatre Festival hit Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. A seamless synchronizing of live music, performance, film and animation creates a deliciously dystopian delight.

TESTAMENT BY COLM TÓIBÍN PRESENTED BY ULSTER BANK DUBLIN THEATRE FESTIVAL AND LANDMARK PRODUCTIONS 29 SEPT – 16 OCT 2011 €20 – 35 The world première of an astonishing piece of new theatre. In a thrilling imaginative leap, one of Ireland’s greatest writers has given voice to a woman who was forced to bear an unimaginable burden in tumultuous times. Colm Tóibín’s searingly honest, provocative play asks big questions about what we believe, who we believe, and why. Directed by the internationally-renowned Irish theatre director Garry Hynes, and starring Marie Mullen. Testament is an Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival commission with the support of Irish Theatre Trust.

I ❤ ALICE ❤ I BY AMY CONROY PRESENTED BY HOTFORTHEATRE 4 – 9 OCT 2011 | TICKETS €15 – 20 Alice and Alice are coming out. Finally. Two exceptional, opinionated women were spotted winking at each other in Crumlin Shopping Centre. Now they’re in a show... reluctantly. Defying stereotype, they’re here to share with you something they’ve never dared to before. Fresh, human and hilarious I ❤ Alice ❤ I explores the monumental journey of a most unlikely couple. I ❤ Alice ❤ I is part of ReViewed: A showcase of successful Irish productions restaged in partnership with Culture Ireland and Irish Theatre Institute. Keith Farnan KEITH FARNAN: MONEY, MONEY, MONEY Keith Farnan: Money, Money, Money is the third in a series of thought provoking and poignant shows from critically acclaimed comedian Keith Farnan (Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow). Following sellout West End and Edinburgh runs Keith returns to Project Arts Centre with his new show to take a look at Ireland’s brief love affair with vast amounts of money and the subsequent fiscal meltdown. Looking at how Ireland went from simple bartering souls to credit loving quadzillionaires, Keith presents some cunning plans to repay the €85,000,000,000 Ireland owes Europe and the IMF, and asks what price can you put on happiness? Was Jesus a capitalist or a communist? And what are the devastating psychological effects that money has had on the Irish psyche? “Brilliant, thought provoking and laugh out loud funny” time out ***** “Incisive, brilliant comedy…We should be shouting from the rooftops about him” whatsonstage.com Suitable ages 14+ REAL DEAL – 19 OCT ALL TICKETS JUST €10! Nervousystem WEAVING THE CRY Weaving the Cry is a journey through a dark wave toward a threshold that is both an end and a beginning. It explores our capacity for survival inside the rituals of living and dying. This contemporary re-imagining of Synge’s Riders to the Sea exposes a complex and eternal bond between mother and son concentrated in the relationship between Mauyra, her missing son Michael, and Bartley, her only remaining son of six. With Michael gone and Bartley headed for another dangerous sea crossing, the inevitable and its repercussions must once again be reconciled by those left behind, a mother and her two daughters. Weaving the Cry mixes theatre with traditional songs from Ireland and Galicia to create unique theatrical experience, a stark and daring re-imagining of one of the greatest dramatic works from the Irish literary canon. Best Play of 2010 “…utterly beautiful…” Irish Independent There will be a post show discussion following the performance on 28 October. Suitable ages 12+ PLACE TIME DATE TICKETS PREVIEW 12

Una McKevitt Productions THE BIG DEAL Dear Cathy, It’s 10.30pm on Tuesday night. I have just finished your recent email. You are now on the way to recovery. You are here now as you should have been and will be until the day you die. So whilst I struggle slowly onward and upward, you are already there. Love Deborah Following the hugely successful premiere of The Big Deal at Kilkenny Arts Festival 2011 Una McKevitt (Victor and Gord, 565+) brings us an extraordinary real life story of two women who knew from a very young age that they were born into the wrong bodies. Scripted from original material provided by the contributors – including journals, poems, songs and interviews – The Big Deal charts the incredible personal gains and losses each has made to become the women they have always been. “Moving and sometimes stunning.” The Irish Times “The subjects in McKevitt’s important new work remind us there are many voices yet to be heard.” Irish Theatre Magazine Una McKevitt is part of PROJECT CATALYST, an initiative of Project Arts Centre REAL DEAL – 31 OCT ALL TICKETS JUST €10! Fitzgerald & Stapleton THE SMELL OF WANT The Smell of Want is a new dance theatre performance from Fitzgerald and Stapleton. Check your budget and chose from a luxury seat in the Winners Enclosure (only seven available per show), an averagely comfy Plebeian seat, a bog standard bench in Steerage or ask Box Office about the Lovers’ Swing for an extra special trip. Suitable ages 16+, may contain nudity. Please also note that audience members may be asked to leave the auditorium at points during the performance. “Cutting edge theatre…” The Sunday Times on Fitzgerald & Stapleton There will be a post show discussion on Mon 7 and Wed 9 Nov 2011.

Doug Fishbone, Hayley Newman, Kim Noble, Sally O’Reilly, Michelle Owoo, Colin Perry, Caroline Smith & Bedwyr Williams LAST OF THE RED WINE (THE PREQUEL/ SEQUEL) “Oh come on Simon, he’s made some good projects. Remember the hedge fund he did at the ICA managed by monkeys? He earned two million pounds! Didn’t even have to pay the monkeys!...” Early in 2011 an unlikely group of artists, comedians and writers worked together on The Last of the Red Wine, a radio sitcom set in the artworld. Used to being the subject of their own work, the collaborators instead cast themselves in a collective farce, written and performed in the course of one week. The next installment of the sitcom at Project Arts Centre, The Last of the Red Wine (the prequel/sequel), dissects the mix of people and personalities involved in the original project and examines the processes of self-representation in their individual practices. Presented as a selection of videos and installations, it reveals the further absurdities of art and the artworld, as experienced by serious artists with ridiculous ideas.

Touch Me looks at society today and its transformation from tiger visions to the exodus of the once majestic cranes. From this lonely landscape David Bolger rakes through the spoils of an unprecedented era to discover a new beauty, in the promise of the future. What are the new symbols of fortune? Siren Productions THE MAKING OF ’TIS PITY SHE’S A WHORE A film director assembles a cast and crew to film the darkly comic and brilliantly horrific play Tis Pity She’s a Whore, John Ford’s Jacobean Masterpiece. What ensues is the recreation, on a contemporary film set, of this story of forbidden love, lust and obsession. Through Ford’s vivid characters the classic tale begins to resonate with the actors and crew on the set and as the boundaries of these two worlds blur reality, fantasy, life and art collide with disastrous results. With a combination of live and filmed scenes this innovative re-imagining is vividly brought to life by a stellar cast. Influenced by the works of filmmakers from Fellini to Lynch The Making of Tis Pity She’s a Whore is directed by The Irish Times Irish Theatre Award-winner, Director Selina Cartmell. “Selina Cartmell is the most radical presence in our theatre world” The Dubliner There will be a post-show discussion following the performance on 7 December.
