Catholic high schools of archdiocese graduate more than 2,000 students More than 2,000 students graduated from Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of San Francisco in 2013. More than 25,000 students attended archdiocesan Catholic schools during school year 2012-13: 17,291 elementary school and 7,838 high school students. Immaculate Conception Academy graduated 52 students June 7 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, San Francisco. Diplomas were handed out by school president Dominican Sister Diane Aruda and principal, Lisa Graham. Guest speakers were Dominican Sister Gloria Marie Jones, congregational prioress, Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose and Jesuit Father John Foley, founder of the Cristo Rey schools network.

Stuart Hall High School graduated 30 students June 8 at Stuart Hall High School. Reynolds Marquette, dean of studies, Joseph Niehaus, board chairman, and Ann Marie Krejcarek, president, handed out diplomas. Guest speakers included Michael Campos, theology faculty. Convent of the Sacred Heart High School graduated 40 students June 7 at the Flood Mansion. Joseph Niehaus, board chairman, handed out diplomas. Guest speakers included 1979 alumna Francine Anthony. Mary Forsyth is head of school.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory held its commencement exercises June 1 at St. Ignatius Church for 344 members of the class of 2013. President John Knight and principal Patrick Ruff spoke, as did valedictorian Margaret Meagher, who was honored along with Jacqueline Martinez, the recipient of the school’s highest honor, the Ignatian Award.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory
Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory graduated 314 students on May 25 at Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, San Francisco. President John F. Scudder Jr. and principal Gary Cannon handed out diplomas. Guest speakers included salutatorian Daniel McElroy.

Rita Gleason, principal presented diplomas to 123 graduates June 5 at St. Pius Church in Redwood City.
Mercy High School Burlingame
Mercy High School Burlingame graduated 114 seniors June 2 at St. Ignatius Church on the University of San Francisco campus. Principal Lisa Tortorich handed out diplomas. Mercy Sister M. Katherine Doyle the school’s interim president, and incoming president Karen Hanrihan also assisted in the rites.
Sacred Heart Preparatory
Sacred Heart Preparatory graduated 149 students May 24, 2013, at the school’s 115th commencement ceremony on the Sacred Heart Schools campus in Atherton. Richard A. Dioli, director of schools, Eric Lamb, board of trustees chairman; principal James Everitt and school faculty including Brian Bell, Ken Thompson and Karen Filice presented diplomas.
Woodside Priory
Woodside Priory graduated 69 seniors June 1 at the school’s 53rd commencement on the Portola Valley campus. Emre Sonmez was the student speaker. Pulitzer Prize winning political animator Mark Fiore, a 1987 Priory alumnus, was the commencement speaker.
Marin Catholic High School
Marin Catholic High School presented diplomas to 172 graduates June 6 at the Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium at the Civic Center. Presenting diplomas were Tim Navone, president; and Chris Valdez, principal.
San Domenico School
San Domenico School graduated 37 young women on June 8 at San Domenico School. Tracey Kelp, academic dean, handed out the diplomas along with Cecily Stock, head of school. Alyce Brownridge, high school division head, served as master of ceremonies. John Bowermaster, dean of faculty provided the commencement address. Olivia Ayanruoh, student body president, and Niki Fukada, senior class president, provided student addresses.
Junipero Serra High School
Junipero Serra High School graduated 217 students June 1 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, San Francisco. Principal Barry Thornton handed out diplomas.
