Two held for robbery in NW Delhi

New Delhi: Two men have been arrested for allegedly robbing a group of friends at gunpoint in northwest Delhi’s Rani Bagh area on Monday. The two arrested men have been identified as Gaurav (31), a resident of Baghpat district in UP, and Luvkush, a resident of Swaroop Nagar.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Parvinder Singh said Gaurav and Luvkush were arrested following a raid “During questioning, the two men disclosed that they, along with their associate Sagar Sai, committed the robbery They have been found involved in 27 other cases of snatching as well. They used to commit robberies and snatchings on stolen bikes.” Luvkush told cops that he met Gaurav through his associate Sai. tnn

A 58-year-old autodriver who won Rs 12 crore Kerala lottery.

After intense speculations, a 58-year-old auto-rickshaw driver from Ernakulam district of Kerala was adjudged the winner of the Rs 12 crore Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery instituted by the state government.

Jayapalan P R, a resident of Maradu in Kochi, was certified as the first prize winner of the lottery after he submitted the original copy of the prize-winning ticket at the nearby bank branch. After deducting taxes and the agency’s commission, he’s poised to receive a sum of nearly Rs 7.4 crore.

Jayapalan told the local media that he had bought the ticket from Meenakshi Lucky Centre, an agency which has brought luck to many, in Thripunithura on September 10. He had picked out the particular prize-winning ticket as the number sounded “fancy” to him. The ticket cost Rs 300. He said that he purchases lottery tickets on a regular basis and has won Rs 5,000 on an earlier occasion

A head-on collision between a car and a Staterun RTC bus resulted in the death of a car driver, while 11 passengers suffered injuries near Eklaspur in Manthani Mandal of Peddapalli district on Wednesday morning.

Ramagundem Commissioner of Police S. Chandrasekhar Reddy said the accident took place around 8 a.m. when the car driver, Thati Vinith (22) from Khansaipet, suddenly turned his vehicle to the right, and to avoid hitting the bus driver veered off to left. The impact of the accident was such both the vehicles had a head-on collision and fell into a small gorge.

Police said that the bus, which belongs to Parakal depot, was going towards Hanumakonda from Bellampalli. While Vinith suffered severe injuries and died on the spot, the injured were shifted to Government Hospital, Manthani, for immediate medical assistance. The bus had 16 commuters on board at the time of the accident.

A case was registered and a probe is on. Police had engaged a crane to pull out the mangled vehicles from the gorge.

22-year-old ‘thief’ beaten to death in Delhi’s Sultanpuri

NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old man was beaten to death by public on suspicion of theft in outer Delhi's Sultanpuri on Monday. A PCR call about the incident was made at 5am where the caller informed that the residents had nabbed a thief in Kirari Suleman Nagar area of Aman Vihar. A subinspector, Hemant, from Sultanpuri police station reached the spot where the residents informed him that the accused attempted theft. "Before he could do anything, residents woke up. To escape, the suspect jumped on the road from the roof of a house," the officer said.

During the inquiry, it was revealed that the accused was beaten by the public, police said. Later, one of the residents made a PCR call and the injured person was shifted to a hospital by the PCR van where the doctor declared him brought dead. The deceased was identified as Vishal.

Delhi: Student stabs senior to death over insult to mother in Okhla.

NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by his school junior for allegedly using foul language against his mother in southeast Delhi's Okhla.

Police said that the victim, a student of Class XI, was stabbed after school hours by his junior from Class X. The junior boy has been apprehended. The incident took place outside the government senior secondary school in Tehkhand on Friday afternoon.

A police team, which reached the spot after the incident. took the boy to a hospital where he died during treatment Medical reports revealed that the boy had three stab wounds.

A crime and forensics team was called to the spot for a detailed inspection and a case of murder was registered.

Preliminary probe revealed that the victim had allegedly used foul language against the mother of the other boy recently. "On Friday, the Class X student asked his senior to apologise to his mother but the latter refused. This sparked an argument between the two boys leading to a fight. During the fight, the younger boy took out a knife and stabbed the other boy multiple times. Both the boys were in school uniforms at the time of incident," said a senior police officer.

Man dies after spat, cops say he had ‘Heart Attack’

Ludhiana: A 58-year-old man died after a spat in the Sarabha Nagar main market on Monday. While kin of the victim, Satish Kumar of Harnam Nagar, alleged that two men had thrashed him to death, the police said he had no injury marks on the body, so maybe he suffered a heart attack.

Satish's sons Dinesh Kumar and Gaurav have battery operated toy cars and they give rides to children visiting Sarabha Nagar main market. Dinesh said on Monday at 7pm, he and his father were in the market when Anupam Sharma and his brother Deepak Sharma, who also give rides to children on similar toy cars, had a spat with them over a minor issue. He said people in the market intervened and resolved the matter. "At night, the accused turned up there again and started thrashing me. When my father tried to intervene, the accused beat him up too. My father fell on the road and died."

He immediately informed the police and rushed his father to hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
